Onekawa School Newsletter
Week 2 Term 4, Friday 28 October
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora parents and caregivers
For the first time in over 12 months we were able to hold our first full school assembly this morning! It's wonderful to 'be back to normal' after the significant disruption over the last few years.
Parents and caregivers are most welcome to attend our school assemblies. They are held in the school hall from 9:50am every Friday morning.
I wish to invite you all to our structured literacy information evening this coming Wednesday. We will be serving free sausages and there will be supervised games on the field so parents can attend the meeting. See below for further information.
Have a wonderful weekend Whanau!
Nga mihi,
Steve
Onekawa School Structured Literacy Information Evening
Wednesday 2 November
5:30pm-6:10pm
You may have heard about ‘Structured Literacy’ in the media in the last few months…
We are inviting you to an information evening to explain what Structured Literacy is and to share the exciting way it is being taught at Onekawa School!
Bring the children along for a free sausage sizzle and supervised play on the field while parents and caregivers learn about Structured Literacy at Onekawa School!
THIS INVITE IS TO CURRENT & FUTURE PARENTS & INTERESTED MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY!
The Moveathon is back! - Tuesday 15 November
You may be wondering “what is a Movethon?”. The focus of the Moveathon is for children to be moving for 45 minutes carrying out various fun activities. There will be music, dancing, walking, hopping and jumping – just to name a few activities. We will have a few run throughs in the next few weeks so children will be able to tell you more about it then.
We would really appreciate it if every child can collect donations for completing this fun event.
Sponsor forms have been sent home with your child this afternoon.
Money raised will contribute towards our 'playscape' development, which we intend to start in the next few months.
Parents and caregivers are very welcome to attend and watch the fun. Children are encouraged to wear their house colours for the event. There will also be house points awarded and spot prizes handed out!
Swimming Starts Soon!
Children in Year 5/6 will start swimming next week and all students will begin the week after.
Please have your children bring their togs and towel to school every day of the week.
