Although I have scheduled the PLT on the calendar, keep in mind it is a reminder just in case you have not set aside the 30 minutes for learning. You are responsible for carving out the 30 minutes a month. By the last day of the month, you will be responsible for completing and submitting a monthly PLT reflection feedback form which can be found on the LW collaborative wikispace; go to home page and click on "Professional Learning". The PLT reflection feedback form will be considered your "sign-in" and be used to award you master in-service points (MIP). Teachers who attended last week's "Tech Tuesday" can complete a PLT reflection feedback form and recieve MIP points.
As always, when something new is introduced, there is uncertainty, if you have any questions, let me or another administrator know how we can support you. Also, reach out to Marie Coleman. As you can see in the pictures below, she was in Bob Jackson's room last week, coaching him on integrating Kahoot into his instruction. Who knows, the 30 minutes might just lead to you starting a professional learning community on campus or establishing an online professional learning network (PLN). A PLN is a way for teachers to connect, collaborate, create, and communicate online on common topics of interest. Tom Whitby, in his article "How to Get a PLN?" shares tips on how to build a PLN.
HAPPENINGS
Are you interested in being part of a team? If so you have the opportunity to represent LWIT/LWTHS at Moe's Corporate Run on October 2nd. The run is a 3 mile run/walk and all levels of runners and walkers are encouraged to participate. As long as you wear an LWIT/LWTHS shirt, we will pay for the registration fee. See Rick Ponton or Steve Parnell for details.
The Student Services Team will be cheering on our great adult students by serving coffee, juice and donuts on Friday, September 26th from 7:30 a.m.- 7:50 a.m. in Mustang Alley. This LWIT Connections event is the first in a series. In addition to cheering on their students, they will be showing their team spirit by wearing their favorite team jersey or shirt. Stop by for some morning fun on your way to class! Please let your students know so they can arrive early on that day and take advantage of the coffee, juice, and donuts.

TECH CORNER
Tour Builder is in beta, but it looks like it has promise, especially (but not limited to) Social Studies and Language Arts teaching and learning. The premise is to take a tour via Google Earth with you (or students) adding texts, photos, and video to share a story that involves geographic places. For example, a lecture about the War for Independence could be replaced with a Tour Builder or students could share their learning about any important person in a content area, similar to what Jane Goodall did with Tour Builder. It is another great way to utilize various forms of media, creativity, and the thinking skills necessary to synthesize information. Let Marie know if you want to try it and/or if you use it so you can be highlighted in a future Mustang Message!
If you missed Tech Tool Tuesday last week and are interested in Kahoot!, please head over to the wiki page for my Touchcast video (recreating the session...almost). If you want MIP you will need to create your own, administer it to a class, and send me the spreadsheet results. I am anxious to help you with this fun and engaging assessment tool, so let me know if/when you are ready! Check out the engagement in Bob Jackson’s Entrepreneurship class when he used Kahoot! last week as an introduction to his Business Communication Skills unit.
