Message from Mrs. Pierce
Hello Bryant Families! Last week, we successfully completed our first full week of school. Teachers and students have worked hard to build positive classroom communities. One way they achieve this goal is through the creation of their class promise. It is amazing to walk into every room in our building and see the class promise on the wall.
Arrival and dismissal has improved significantly. We thank you for following the traffic maps and guidelines. Lamar CISD is now in session and on a slightly different bell schedule than us. You may see LCISD buses picking up or dropping off students during our arrival and dismissal. Please remember to follow all traffic laws regarding buses loading and unloading in the neighborhood.
PK-1st grade Parents- Please ensure that your student has a change of clothes in a gallon sized zip-lock bag at all times. Extra clothes need to be the correct size and seasonally appropriate. This is important even if your child is completely potty trained. All kinds of accidents happen from spills in the cafeteria to mud on the playground. Children must be able to change their own clothing
If you have a praise or a shout out for a teacher or a staff member, we would love to hear it!! Please fill out this form.
From Our Counselors
For the month of September, students will begin learning about respect using this definition: seeing good in people and things and treating them with care. Respect is an important trait for students to learn and apply in their lives and is part of our Bryant Code of Honor. Please help us kick off this trait by wearing yellow on Wednesday, September 7th. To extend their learning at home, find ideas in the PurposeFull People grade-level newsletters: PreK, Kinder, First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth. If you would like more information, please contact our school counselors, Penny Flores or Julie Akerson.
Need to Reach the Counselor?
Students at Bryant have accessibility to talk with our School Counselors, Penny Flores (grades PK, K, 1, and 5) and Julie Akerson (grades 2-4). If you would like to get in touch with either of them, please contact Dr. Flores at 281-234-4331 or at penelopewflores@katyisd.org or Mrs. Akerson at 281-234-0676 or at julianaakerson@katyisd.org.

The latest time you may check out your student is 2:45pm. Anyone arriving after this time will not be able to check a student out.
Late Arrivals
Item Drop Off for Students
You may bring items for your student up to the school until 9:45am for a guaranteed delivery to the classroom. Any item dropped off after 9:45am (that is not medically necessary) will be taken to a grade specific basket in a passing area to be picked up as the students head to lunch or specials. Please note: the classroom is not notified of the item, the teachers will check the baskets as they pass.
**Labels, pens, and tape are available in the front vestibule for you to place on the item being dropped off. Please place all labeled items in the basket near the front table in the vestibule.
Lunch Visitors
For the first 2 full weeks of school, lunch visitors are not allowed so that routines can be established and best practices put in place. We will begin lunch visitors after the Labor Day weekend on Tuesday, September 6th. Parents and Guardians are encouged to come eat lunch with their students one time per week beginning on this week. Only grandparents on the approved form linked below may visit without a guardian one time per week. All other visitors MUST be accompanied by a guardian. Due to space limitations, only 3 visitors per student will be allowed at a time. This includes non-school age siblings.

Medications at School
Medications- parents of students who need medications on campus, either daily or as needed, should contact Nurse Osbourne ASAP.
Medicine at School - All medications (prescription and nonprescription) brought to the school must be taken to the school clinic immediately upon arrival. Students may transport prescription/nonprescription medication to and from school if the medication is not a controlled substance. Students may not be in possession of any prescription or nonprescription drug on school grounds during school hours unless officially authorized by the campus nurse for possession and self-administration of a prescription medication for asthma, anaphylaxis, or diabetes.
The following procedures are to be followed regarding medications:
All prescription drugs dispensed through a physician's office must be in their original pharmacy container or packing and labeled by the pharmacist or physician.
The label must include:
· The student's name
· The physician's name
· The name and strength of the drug
· Amount of drug to be given
· Frequency of administration
· Date prescription was filled
All nonprescription drugs (including cough drops) must be in their original container. The written request for administration of these over-the counter drugs, made by parent, guardian, or physician, must contain the following:
· The student’s name
· Name of drug
· Amount of drug to be given
· Scheduled hours when the drug is to be given
· Reason drug is to be given
· Date
· Appropriate signature
Medications prescribed or requested to be given three times a day or less are not to be given at school unless a physician prescribes a specific time during school hours, or the school nurse determines that a special need exists for an individual student.
Only one medication is allowed per properly labeled container. Students may not have prescription or non-prescription drugs in his or her possession on school grounds during school hours.
Natural and/or homeopathic-like products, not FDA approved, will not be dispensed in the school setting by school district personnel.
**There are no “stock” medications kept in the clinic. The only medications that are kept in the clinic are those which were brought in by the parent or student with appropriate paperwork.
We are also requesting forms needed for students (below) be scanned and emailed to the clinic. You can email by clicking here or fax to 281-644-1967.
Any questions or concerns please contact Christilynn Osbourne, RN, MSN at 281-234-4325

Dismissal Instructions & Procedures
Car Riders:
Car riders stage for dismissal via double stack lanes in our car rider lane which wraps behind the school. Staff members will be entering your dismissal number and color into a Google Doc which is shared inside the school. It is imperative that once you have entered the left or right lane, you cannot change lanes. This causes great challenges because staff members are staging students inside using the order recorded in the Google Doc. If you are picking up your child as a car rider, please use the HANGING TAGS provided for you. If families are carpooling, a great idea is to use a hanger with clips to show more than one dismissal number on your rear-view mirror. Please hang the tag(s) from the rear view mirror, not in the corner of the window. If you do not have the physical number for the child or children you are picking up, you will not be able to pick up a child from the car rider line.
Daycare Riders:
On our transportation survey above, you can tell us your child’s teacher and the name of their daycare bus.
Walkers/Bike Riders:
Students in PK-1st will be released to an adult only. If you have a PK-1st grader that you would like to walk home with an older sibling, please see the directions in the manila envelope provided during Meet the Teacher. The older sibling will not need a dismissal number to pick up their younger sibling. Parents MUST have the physical dismissal number in your hand in order to pick up your PK-1st grade child from school. If you do not have the number in your hand you will be asked by a staff member to go to the front office. Students in 3rd-5th will leave campus on their own, and will not need a dismissal number in order to exit the building.
Bus Riders:

The Katy ISD Transportation Department is excited to communicate that all 2022 - 2023 route buses continue to be equipped with GPS systems. With the GPS systems, parents, campuses and transportation personnel are able to track buses in real-time through a downloadable application from Edulog. For parents and patrons having children who are eligible for transportation services in Katy ISD, click here for information on how to download the application and for instructions on how to install the app to track our busses.
