The World According to Humphrey
We hope you have enjoyed reading The World According to Humphrey as much as we did. We will be finishing up the story this week. Below is a survey, we would love to have your input as we plan for future reading projects. Also, below is a list of optional projects students can do at home. We will be accepting these anytime through February 7th. We will have some special gifts for students completing projects. If you enjoyed reading Humphrey, there are several others in this series!
Happy Reading,
The One School One Book Committee
Kid’s Heart Challenge Fundraiser
February is an excellent time for us to host our Kid’s Heart Challenge Fundraiser (formally known as Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart) put on by the American Heart Association. This year is no exception! We will be participating in our activities the week of February 10 – 14, in Physical Education Class with all donations due on Friday, February 14. These dates are dependent upon the weather, which hopefully is better than last year!!!!
If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Weaver at michele_weaver@usd368.org
Mrs. Taylor's Panther Family - KOALA COLLECTION
Mrs. Taylor's Class and Panther Family have decided to put several of our 7 Mindsets into action and begin a KOALA COLLECTION.
We know from our study of the 7 Mindsets that We Are All Connected and that when we put our Passions First and Live to Give, Everything is Possible so we are going to donate money to help the koalas because the Time Is Now.
Students (and parents, too) can begin bringing (or sending) in cash donations at any time. We will collect until February 7th.
Thank you so much for considering making a donation at this time to help the koalas.
KIDS CONNECT CLUB - Cutest Dog Contest to benefit Paola Dog Park
Sunflower Families,
Kids Connect, Sunflower's Civic Engagement Club, is holding a contest to help support the Paola Dog Park. We are asking, "Who has the cutest dog around?" Your child may bring in a photo of your dog with both their name and teacher's name written on the back and place it in their teacher's envelope. Physical copies only please--photos will be returned. Photo submissions are due Friday, February 7th and students will vote via google form to determine a "class dog" for each classroom. A picture of each class dog will be placed on jars so that students may vote by giving loose change, etc. for Sunflower's cutest dog. All proceeds will directly benefit the Paola Dog Park so that our cuties will have a safe place to play.
Please see the attached flyer for more details!
If you have any questions please feel free to email Mrs. Burke at blaire_burke@usd368.org, Mrs. Chappell at malinda_chappell@usd368.org, Mrs. Gage at paula_gage@usd368.org, or Mrs. McDaniel at jamie_mcdaniel@usd368.org.
