  1. Red blood cells form into crescents, then causing them to block other vane tunnels.

  2. Normal red blood cells are deformed and shaped like doughnuts with holes in the middle.

  3. Caused by having two people with sickle cell trait

  4. Mostly for African Americans

  5. More than 70,000 Americans have sickle cell anemia

  6. 1 in 12 African Americans have Sickle cell anemia

  7. Anyone can have sickle cell trait like myself

  8. May have severe pain in the chest, stomach, arms, legs, or in other places in the body.

  9. Sickle Cell disease is a blood disorder

  10. It can also be known as SS disease

Well, what can you do to stay well?

1. Eat a balanced and healthy diet

2. Drink a lot of fluid to prevent dehydration

3. Try to avoid extreme cold or heat

4. Get plenty of sleep and rest

5. Avoid drugs, alcohol, and smoking
