Miss Brown's Bulletin
Week of April 11-15
SPRING BREAK: April 4-8
Leader of the Month
Our Leader of the Month for April is...Aaron! Aaron does an excellent job of putting first things first each day. He always comes in and prepares for the day before he begins working on his goals. As soon as he is finished with his assignments, he is reading a book or working on his Compass goals. I never have to remind Aaron of what to do! Aaron also shows kindness to his classmates and is always giving 100%. Keep up the great leadership!
Fluency
Students have been working towards multiplication fluency through weekly mad-minutes. In this weekly mad-minute, students have 1 minute to answer 20 multiplication problems correctly. If they do not, they will not advance to the next factor. There are 12 factors total (1-12), and as of now only 1 student has mastered all 12 (way to go Elle!).
You can practice multiplication fluency with flashcards, sprints, and skip counting. Be sure to check Monday folders each week to see how your child performed on their mad minute and to see which factor they are currently working on.

Spring Artist Showcase
Our class tried out for the showcase singing our class song, "Never Gonna Let You Down", and we made it! Forms were sent home to allow permission for your child to perform in the showcase. I will be sending a reminder home in planners for those who have turned in their form about the date and time of the showcase next week.
The showcase will take place on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. here at Cartmell Elementary. We hope to see you there!

We Are Learning To...
Language Arts
We will continue to look at informational text to determine the main idea and supporting details. We will also continue to practice identifying the meanings of unfamiliar words by using context clues. And our new learning will involve looking into how a text is structured (cause/effect, compare/contrast, sequence).
We will be looking at our finished pieces in writing and students will get those back to view their scores on their fictional pieces.

Math
We will continue with our unit on fractions when we return from break. This week will involve Topic B and we will move into Topics C & D. A newsletter for Topics C & D will come home mid-week for tips on how to help your child with math at home.
