Global Read Aloud
This week begins the Global Read Aloud Project. It began in 2010 and to date the GRA has had over 2,000,000 student participants from all around the world. Every year, a new set of books is chosen for various levels. Teachers read the selected books aloud to the students over a 6 week time period and make global connections for the students to share about the books they've read. The 4th grade humanities teachers began making connections this summer and can't wait to get started. Some students have already been able to Skype with their partner class. Connections can include such things as Skype, Twitter, or Postcard Exchanges. Many classes choose to stay connected even after GRA ends.
This is the last week to turn in GES Auction items. All items are due on THURSDAY OCTOBER 5TH and we need your help! We are asking each family to contribute something for our themed baskets to make this the most successful auction yet! Collection boxes are now in your child's classroom. Just send them to school with their items to be placed in the box. (Please note, donations of wine/beer cannot be dropped off at the school. Please contact your coordinator to arrange for pick up). We will be at the school collecting all donations Thursday, October 5th at 1:00 pm.
As a reminder the 4th Grade Basket Themes are: Tournament Weekend, Moms Just Wanna Have Fun, Harry Potter Mania, Dinner is Served on Main Street, Total Wine Experience, and Try Your Luck!
We ask that you please use the sign up to let us know what you'll be contributing so that we can plan accordingly. There are still plenty of open spots to sign up here: Auction Sign Up
The grade with the most successful baskets at auction will win a Pajama Day from Mrs. Hilcher! Let's help our kiddos win the competition! If you have any questions, please contact our Auction Coordinators: melaneewarren@yahoo.com OR ouheididoty@yahoo.com
A Note from the Carnival Co-Chairs: Carnival is fast approaching and we are all excited for a great time! Please check your child's folder tonight for more information as well as a form to pre-order wristbands and Star cards.
