PORK CHOP PLATE - MAY 13
ENGAGE Georgia
Georgia’s Department of Education has partnered with Graduation Alliance to provide an extra layer of support for K-12 students and their families to boost school engagement and academic success during the school year.
If your student chooses to participate in the program, they will be assigned an Academic Success Coach who will answer questions, connect them with resources, and develop a plan to help them stay on track and engaged with their schooling!
Their coach will reach out by phone, email, text message, and more to provide support such as:
● Encouragement and motivation to help them stay on track with their studies
● Organization and study tips
● Technical support or assistance connecting with teachers
● Educational resources and exercises to help strengthen reading and math skills
● Referrals to local agencies and organizations that can provide social-emotional support
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity! If you have any questions, feel free to email the program directly at EngageGA@graduationalliance.com or visit RegisterGA.GraduationAlliance.com.

WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING?
To better accommodate school district stakeholders, the Burke County Board of Education has set its 2022 regular monthly meetings for the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., a week later than its previous meeting time of the second Tuesday in the month. The meetings will remain being held at the Burke County Board of Education Central Office, 789 Burke Veterans Parkway, Waynesboro, GA.
The Agenda is accessible through Simbli. To locate Simbli, go to any of our Burke County Public Schools websites and select Simbli/Meetings in the top left corner of the page. Then, select Meetings, where the agenda will be posted each month.
On the day of the Board meeting, which is the 3rd Tuesday of each month, a link to watch a live-stream of the meeting is posted on the homepage of our district website under "Recent News."
If you miss the meeting live stream, the recording is posted on our Burke County Public Schools, GA YouTube Channel the following day.

National Day Calendar
April 28th commemorates National Super Hero Day, National Teach Children to Save Day, National Blueberry Pie Day, and National Great Poetry Reading Day. Burke County families can celebrate these special holidays by dressing in their favorite super hero costume and opening a savings account at the bank (you would literally be SAVING the day. Get it?) And then after that, you can have a picnic that features blueberry pie and some great ol' poetry.
If you are interested in reading some poetry on this holiday, the Poetry Foundation's official website is attached to the super hero image on the right. The Poetry Foundation provides free access to most poets and their work.
(Your Paw Print Pals recommend Edgar Allen Poe, especially if you are a horror fan).
Word of the Day
The Word of the Day is Opportune! Opportune is an adjective that describes circumstances or a time that was well chosen or favorable. The end of the school year is an opportune time to do extra credit work and get your grades high!
We challenge you all to use this word as many times as you can this week, extra points if you use it in the right context, EVEN MORE points if you have to explain to somebody what it means!
