Deceleration of Independence

In June of 1776 Richard Henry Lee told congress that these united colonies are and of right out to be free and independent states. This sparked the committee of independence. In this committee there was John Adams, Ben Franklin, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, and Thomas Jefferson. After the committee Jefferson was chosen to write the document. On July 4, 1776, the 13 american colonies severed their political connections to Great Britain. They were tired of being mistreated and mislead. This was the only way to break ties. America finally gained their independence.

How did this document impact the development of the U.S. government?

This document was the base to everything forward in america. After this happened the 13th amendment came along. This was the foundation to many other freedom opportunities. Just like the 15th amendment gave African American men the right to vote. Then the 19th gave women the right to vote. So the right to equality is slowly getting better in time. In today we have even more equality achievements with the right to marry anyone you want. This all started with the since of freedom from the deceleration of Independence
