Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear Ram families,
This Wednesday our canned food drive comes to a close. Let’s finish strong by bringing as many canned and non-perishable food items as possible to RAM classes before then. Our goal is to donate 5,000 cans to the San Diego Food Bank and we are only about 1/4 of the way there. Remember, the RAM class with the most cans per student wins an ice cream party. Good luck and thanks for helping out.
The Great American Smoke-Out takes place on Thursday. This is the day all smokers and e-cigarette users are challenged to quit for one day. Here at TPMS we will be having an anti-smoking/anti-vaping rally on Tuesday, November 19th with fun and engaging activities aimed at educating our students about the dangers of smoking traditional cigarettes and the ever increasing use of electronic smoking devices also known as vaping. Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, are now the most popular form of nicotine use among middle and high school students, with an estimated 3.6 million students reporting using them in 2018. Some teens may believe e-cigarettes are completely safe, but there are significant risks to be aware of. Click here for a video all parents should see in order to better understand this growing epidemic.
Butter Braid pick-up is also on Thursday from 3:15 to 5pm in the MPR. Please be sure to pick up your orders, as we do not have the freezer space to store them. And then on Thursday Night, our Fall Orchestra concert takes place at the Poway Center for Performing Arts from 6-8pm.
The Twin Peaks PTSA is proud to sponsor the Adopt-a-Family program again this year. Adopt-a-Family is designed to assist families within the Poway area during the holiday season. There are many ways to contribute. Click here for the sign-up sheet and suggested gift items. All gifts and/or gift cards should be brought to the front office UNWRAPPED and LABELED with the family ID number. Please provide a gift receipt if possible. Gifts can be dropped off at any point from now until Tuesday, December 6th. If you would like to sponsor an entire family this holiday season, please email Dorinda Soucek at pusdadoptafamily@gmail.com and she will assist you. If you have any other questions, please email Valerie Hughes at valerie.hughes@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
That’s it for now. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow and remember it's a 5/1/3 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke
