LEEder of the Week: Dia Patidar
Each week one learner in every class will be selected by the designer to be the "LEEder of the Week." Students will be selected by who showed the "Leadership Quality of the Week" best that week.
Our Leadership Quality of the week is "Patience"
CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE WEEK
LEEdership Quality of the Week:
The ability to wait calmly.
Lesson in Leadership:
When a designer is assisting another learner, wait calmly until he or she can help you.
Lee Quote of the Week:
"Consider the chicken, you get them by hatching the egg, not by smashing them." -Arnold H. Gaslow
What we are learning:
READING & WRITING
In reading this week we are identifying themes. Learners were asked to read two different reading passages and identify, compare and contrast the theme. Our vocabulary word of the week is plot. Learners looks at the sequence of events that make up the plot in a story. Leaners also took the NWEA MAP reading assessment.
Math
This week learners started adding and subtracting decimals. They also worked on represented the product of decimals to the hundredths place. They did a preforming math activity to demonstrate their learning.
SCIENCE
In science this week learners used the Learn 360 app to explore solutions and determine which properties are maintained and change when matter is combined.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In conjunction with the district recognition day, American Indians, learners visited the Bullock Museum web site to study their heritage. Learners, like the American Indians we asked to tell a story through drawings.
Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
Box Tops: Did you know you can SCAN Box Tops and earn money for our school with items you already purchase for your home? Learn more about this quick and easy way to help our school.
