Important Testing Information

September 23, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians of 9th, 11th, and 12th grade students,

With the cancelation of this past spring’s statewide testing, the Michigan Department of Education has made the PSAT (9th Grade), PSAT/NMSQT (11th Grade) and SAT with Essay (12th Grade) assessments available for our students this fall. Fraser High School will host an in-person administration of these assessments in October for students. Below is the testing schedule:

Fall Testing Calendar:

12th Grade SAT with Essay (Make-up 10/27)

9th Grade PSAT (Make-up 10/30, Last Chance 11/6)

11th Grade PSAT/NMSQT (No Make-up Date)

Fraser Public Schools continues to advocate for the safety of our students; therefore, social distancing and all safety protocols will be followed. Please know that these assessments are recommended for all high school students. We use the data from the PSAT and SAT in designing curriculum and in determining our multi-tiered systems of support. We remind you to “opt in” to the College Board’s Student Search Service at https://studentsearch.collegeboard.org/opt-in, which sends colleges and scholarship organizations the necessary information they need to provide specific scholarships to your child.

We also encourage the use of Khan Academy’s Official SAT Practice online site: https://www.khanacademy.org/sat. Here, students can take practice PSAT and SAT assessments and use the results of those tests to create an individualized preparation plan for the spring assessment. To assist with your questions, please contact Counselor Stacy Kalpin at Stacy.Kalpin@FraserK12.org.
