Message from the Principal
JAJHS Families,
It has been SO good to have our students back this week! Whether they were learning all online through the Jonathan Alder Digital Academy or through our hybrid model, it has been nice to be back together as a school community!
The first week of in-person learning went smoothly! Our students did an outstanding job adjusting to new routines and stepping up to even exceed our expectations around the building. We continue to make observations and tweaks to schedules, protocols, and procedures as we go. I want to share my sincere appreciation to our teachers for their hard work over the last few weeks to prepare physical and online spaces for the kids! We are all learning through this process and they continue to step up professionally while also welcoming kids with open [distanced] arms and [masked] smiles!
We hope that as the next couple of weeks unfold, the students continue to feel more and more comfortable around the building and in our classes. In the same way, we hope that our students’ families continue to connect with us at school. Navigating Canvas, timelines, teachers’ expectations, Zoom schedules, forms, and other back to school elements can be challenging! Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers for any questions or assistance as the year begins!
We appreciate your patience, support, and assistance in making this a wonderful year for JAJHS students!
Sincerely,
Ryan Malany

Message from Dean of Students/Athletic Director
What a pleasure it has been getting to know our JAJHS students both in person and online! While the school year is still just beginning, I can tell we have a responsible and respectful group of learners and I cannot wait to see the success they will have this year!
Athletics are back in action and the Pioneers are picking up where they left off! Both of our volleyball teams have started the season with wins against Ben Logan, Northwestern and Northridge. Cross Country opened up their year at Ben Logan with the girls coming in 1st and the boys as runner-up! Cheer and football begin their seasons this Tuesday on the road.
I know many are excited to come cheer on our JAJHS athletic teams. As soon as spectator limitations change, it will be communicated across all of our platforms. For now, thank you for your support and we hope to be able to see you in the stands soon!
As Always, Go Pioneers!

Final Forms
Reminder: To streamline work and minimize paper handling, the district is utilizing Final Forms for all required back to school forms. If you have not received emailed instructions regarding completing forms, please contact the school office (614-873-4635). All families must complete Final Forms including students enrolled in Jonathan Alder Digital Academy.
Immunizations
Immunizations
Reminder to all Parents/Guardians of 7th graders: Please turn in Immunization records showing your 7th grader received the required TDAP and Meningitis Vaccines or an Exemption Form, if necessary. You can Fax the records to the junior high office at 614-873-0845 or email them to ungerdo@japioneers.org .
Bus Passes
Our bus drivers are working hard to adjust to new protocols that include specific seating charts by family group, cleaning procedures between groups, and minimizing shared students between busses.
To assist with this, we are unable to honor bus pass requests as we have in the past. For activities such as a sleepover or friends coming over at school, we will ask that these transportation arrangements be made after school hours. Please do not send a note requesting that your student ride home with another student as we are simply unable to honor these requests to start the year.
If your family has extenuating circumstances that may necessitate a bus pass, please contact Mr. Malany (ryan.malany@japioneers.org) directly to discuss this situation.
Student Car-Rider Procedures
To help with social distancing, all car riders will now be dropped off and picked up in the rear of the building. Car riders will enter and exit through the rear door. The rear door will be accessible from around 7:00 - 7:30 AM. After 7:30, this door will be locked and late students will need to enter the front door.
Parents should only use the far-west entrance from Kilbury-Huber and follow the cones to the Drop-Off/Pick-Up area. Parents should exit through the “middle” driveway to Kilbury-Huber. Only staff will utilize the diagonal parking area and exit. Please plan accordingly and practice patience as we adjust to this new pattern.
