A Prayer for our Wellbeing
Lift me up for Your blessings today. I pray that you will anoint me with strength and self care today, tomorrow and always. I pray that you will grace me with patience and wisdom. I pray that You will encourage me throughout the day to take the correct steps to walk proudly, and behave well. I pray all of these things in Your name.
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
I have returned for the Year 6 camp full of gratitude for our Year 6 educators and the parents who assisted on the camp. The children had an amazing experience and learnt more about themselves and each other, surrounded by significant adults who nurtured them in a positive and fulfilled atmosphere. Over the three days, words of affirmation and support encouraged reluctant participants to try things they never thought they could try. Congratulations, Year 6 leaders for representing our school and yourselves in such an honourable fashion. Have a restful and relaxing weekend and we will see you next week.
Wellness can be defined as the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.
The leadership team of Orana wanted to make sure that there were deliberate efforts made to bring attention to the need for the practice of wellness of your mind, body and spirit. We hope the students have enjoyed the wellness week and the opportunities that have been on offer.
HOLY COMMUNION RETREAT
The Year 4 children enjoyed a beautiful day of reflection lead by Sister Catherine. It was an insightful and spiritual experience for all involved. We thank Sister Catherine and the Year 4 teachers for their efforts in preparing the students for this Sacrament.
PENANCE COMMITMENT MASS REMINDER
A reminder to all Year 3 students preparing for the Sacrament of Penance, that the Commitment Mass is this weekend. You can attend either Saturday evening Mass at 6.30pm or Sunday morning at 10.30am.
Today, the children will bring home information regarding our upcoming Book Fair. This year, it will take a different format than usual with students purchasing from the Fair during their Library lessons. Please send permission slips back in the next few days via the classroom basket system. Thank you so much for supporting our endeavours to keep the love of books and reading high on their agenda.

RESPECT - GENEROSITY - EXCELLENCE
FROM OUR FUTURE FOCUSED LEARNING LEADERS- Mrs Lovelle, Miss Gilbert and Mrs Leech
The Staff from Orana, Yidarra and Queen of Apostles gathered together on Tuesday to work on our 21st Century Future Focus Learning. Our professional learning day was led by Lee Watanabe-Crockett and Kathleen Baker. We enjoyed working with colleagues to build on our understanding of Learning Intentions, Essential Questions and Blooms Revised Taxonomy. We shared our ideas and the wonderful work our students are doing on Essential Questions. It was a great experience to not only work alongside and share celebrations with teachers in our region, but also to explore the digital platform available to us, allowing us to connect and collaborate with educators on a global level. We are focusing on the inquiry process where everybody is looking at the same thing with their own perspectives, which allows us to engage in conversation about our world, our needs and how we can solve problems or take risks in our lives, by creating, without fear of making a mistakes.
Concerned is a statement! Curious is a question! Create is a new possibility!
FROM OUR SOCIAL JUSTICE LEADERSHIP TEAM
Did you know that our wonderful teachers and parents here at Orana do something very special to help others? Twice a term our teachers stay back at school and cook trays and trays of lasagne and take them into the city at night to give to the homeless. These people often have nowhere to live and no food. They are very grateful to receive a hot meal, a drink, some fruit and sometimes toiletries. This is a living example of generosity, compassion and ensuring all people are looked after.
We would like to assist our teachers by raising money to buy the lasagnes by holding a Rice Day on Thursday 17th September. Students will be provided with 2 rice cakes for lunch and in return donate $2. If you would also like to donate a packet of rice cakes it would be very much appreciated. A box will be available in the Year 4W classroom for you to put them in. Further details will be provided closer to the day.
Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
