A MESSAGE FROM MR. DERRICK...

It's hard to believe we are on our 4th week of conducting school outside of the building. Ms. Fortin, our editor for our newsletter, has included a number of photos of the new paradigm. It certainly is different and I applaud our students and staff for trying to make the best out of a difficult scenario. We miss seeing our students on a daily basis and look forward to the day when we have our old "normal" back. I am conducting virtual meetings with our seniors each week to provide updates on graduation, end of year awards, yearbook distribution, and other information specific to them. Thanks to everyone who participated in the "Be the Light" campaign on April 10th. It was an incredible display of support for the class of 2020. It speaks highly of our community and their support of our students.

Distant learning has also affected our grading protocol for this semester. You can click on the video link if you want to learn more about the options available to our students. I am also including a link to the Letter Grade Opt-in Google Form. This can be filled out anytime from now until the end of the term so please take your time to assess if this is a good option for your student. We are committed to working with you during this time and doing whatever we can to make the best of the situation and still maintain the safety of our students and staff. Wishing you a great week!

WHAT DOES REMOTE TEACHING LOOK LIKE?

Erika Gallus was selected as Lakeland High School's DAR Good Citizen, and then she participated in their regional scholarship contest this past winter and won! A Lakeland student has won this regional scholarship contest for the past 2 years (Ruth Schenkenberger won it last year). We have some pretty amazing students! Below is the article where Gallus was featured in the CDA press.

JUNIORS and SENIORS

Juniors and Seniors: Ms. Paquette updates her College & Career Website with COVID-19 Post-secondary information almost every day, so be sure to check that out. You will find virtual resources for registering for fall college classes, going on virtual tours, deposit deadline changes and more. You are able to do everything you needed to do before; there are just different ways to go about it now, so make sure to check it out! She has also posted contact information for all Idaho college & military reps. The Scholarship Chart has all scholarships on it than would normally be on the Scholarship Wall, including new PDF or Google Doc versions of applications and new ways to turn them in online or mail them.
