Library Happenings

October Recap

  • The pumpkin contest was a smashing success. Don't know if I should use the word "smashing" since several students smashed their pumpkins on the north end of the school. Seriously, I loved seeing all of the creativity we have here at Briarhill.
  • iPads have been reconfigured. YAHOO! Several students were upset that they lost projects when we reconfigure. A good rule of thumb is only use apps you have to create an account with. The reason is apps you have to create an account with will store the project/document in the cloud, not the device.
  • MacAir carts are ready to be checked out. YES!!!! Read below for more information regarding the carts.

October Stats:

  • Number of visitors: 2,911 (No wonder I am so tired. Does not include the iPad configuration.)

Technology Tidbit

You have to try I absolutely LOVE IT!! I use it to create the library newsletters. I have also used it to advertise for the Briarhill Bash and Building a 21st Century Classroom. Several teachers created a smore and embedded it on their personal page on the school's website. The uses for Smore are endless.

Book Recommendation

Taken, by Erin Bowen, is absolutely amazing!!

Gray Weathersby has grown up expecting to disappear at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. They call it the Heist—and it happens to every boy in Claysoot. His only chance at escape is to climb the Wall that surrounds Claysoot. A climb no one has ever survived . . .

Check out the book trailer.

MacAir Carts

We have 4 carts that contain 15 MacAirs ready for checkout. The carts may be reserved through Eduphoria.

The carts will be housed in the library, not the computer lab. By housing them in the library, we can be assured that they are properly maintained.
