Jan Hus's Impact & Consequences
Jan Hus had a big impact on the Roman Catholics. He helped reform their religion into believing that you don't have to pay your way into Heaven. He made them believe that all you had to do is pray. One thing he didn't know is that there would be consequences for speaking out against the church. The Roman Catholics got so mad that they tied Jan to a stake and they burned him to death. They did that, because they didnt want the catholics to follow him. But if Jan didnt do that, we may not have the religions we have today.
Important Place
Roman Catholic Church
The Roman Catholic Church was the most popular church in this time. This is where royalty meetings were held. In the Catholic church, you had to pay the church (selling indulgences) to get into heaven. If you had a problem with the church, you would have to write down the problem that you have, then you'd have to nail it to the door of the church. Martin Luther did just that. He had a problem with selling indulgences. So he wrote the down the 95 Theses, and nailed it to the door of the Wittenberg Cathedral. Martin did that because he believed that you didnt have to do that. He believed that all you had to do was pray.
