Faith Facts Term 4, Week 1
Friday 21st October
Gospel Reading - Sunday 23rd October
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C
Luke 18:9-14 - The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax
Jesus told a story to some people who thought they were better than others and who looked down on everyone else:
“Two men went into the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
“The Pharisee stood over by himself and prayed, ‘God, I thank you that I am not greedy, dishonest, and unfaithful in marriage like other people. And I am really glad that I am not like that tax collector over there. I go without eating for two days a week, and I give you one-tenth of all I earn.’ “The tax collector stood off at a distance and did not think he was good enough even to look up toward heaven. He was so sorry for what he had done that he pounded his chest and prayed, “God, have pity on me! I am such a sinner.’ Then Jesus said, “When the two men went home, it was the tax collector and not the Pharisee who was pleasing to God. If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honoured.”
Term 4 Family Masses
The Combined Schools Family Masses at Christ the King Church have been a great success and we really want to keep this going! This is a lovely way for families within the Christchurch North Parish to come together to celebrate Mass.
For this special Mass, students do not have to wear their school uniform and are able to sit with their friends or parents and caregivers throughout the Mass.
It is important that we support this new 'Family Mass' concept at Christ the King Church. It is envisioned that this Mass will be more child and family-focused and encourage more families to Mass each week.
Amazing Race
All families are invited to enter a friendly competition, an Amazing Race/Car Rally.
This will be held after the 9:00am Combined Schools Family Mass at Christ the King Church on Sunday 30th October.
- 9:00am - Combined Schools Family Mass at Christ the King Church
- 10:30am - Amazing Race/Car Rally begins (briefing beforehand)
- 11:30/12:00 - Picnic Lunch at Englefield Reserve (Off Englefield Road, Northwood)
If you would like to register to take part please email Maria Surrey
