School Counseling Week!
Mrs. Bowman Mrs. Bowman is the School Counselor at Chillicothe Elementary School. She works with Kindergarten and 1st Grade students. She also gets the opportunity to spend time with students in the preschool at Chillicothe Early Learning Center. This is such a fun age group to work with! Mrs. Bowman enjoys teaching students about their many different emotions. She loves showing kids different ways to cope with big emotions. Mrs. Bowman is helping to build better humans by teaching the students the importance of being a kind, caring, and thoughtful individual. | Mrs. Young Mrs. Young enjoys spending her days at Field School as the 2nd and 3rd grade counselor. She works alongside students as they develop skills needed for learning and as they discover their own indvidiual strengths and interests. Kindness and respect for one another is always a focus woven into lessons and activities with students. Mrs. Young helps build better humans through her daily interactions with students to build healthy relationships, manage emotions, practice perseverence, explore interests, and help create their individual selves as we go. | Mrs. Leamer Mrs. Leamer is the 4th and 5th grade counselor at Dewey School. Mrs. Leamer helps build better humans by teaching and encouraging each student to become the best version of themselves through positive social interactions, academic success, and personal growth. Students understand that to be something you have to do something; "sitting in a garage does not make you a car." |

Mrs. IngramMrs. Ingram is the 6th -8th grade counselor for students with last names A-K at CMS. She enjoys working with the students on developing learning strategies, self-management and social skills through prevention and intervention activities. Middle school can be very challenging and exciting for students, parents and teachers. Mrs. Ingram feels it’s important to remove barriers and gain knowledge and skills that help them become successful in school and life. She does this by helping students develop positive relationships, manage their emotions and conquer difficult situations. | Mrs. McMains Mrs. McMains is the 6th-8th grade counselor for students with last names L-Z at CMS. Mrs. McMains helps build better humans through the development of social-emotional growth. To grow in their social-emotional learning, Mrs. McMains helps students navigate difficult peer interactions, understand the difference between perception and reality, build healthy relationships, manage strong emotions & stressful situations through the use of mindfulness and other coping strategies, as well as gain an understanding of the impact strong emotions if left unaddressed, can have on ourselves and others. | Mrs. Tsikoyak Mrs. Tsikoyak is the freshman/sophomore counselor at the high school. She helps build better humans by supporting students with the transition to high school and planning for beyond. Mrs. Tsikoyak works with students to explore potential careers, set goals for high school and post-secondary training, and learn effective study skills and personal management to meet those goals. |

Mrs. Tipton Mrs. Tipton is the junior/senior counselor at CHS. She helps build better humans by teaching students about the importance of taking care of their mental health and striving for healthy relationships in all aspects of their lives. This includes sharing information about recognizing signs of depression and how to get help as well as characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships, recognizing red flags of abusive relationships, and discussing consent. | Mrs. Baker Mrs. Baker is the college and career counselor at CHS. She helps build better humans by helping students plan and prepare for their college and career aspirations. Mrs. Baker shares this life lesson with students often, "It isn't about what everyone else is doing, it is about what is meant for you!" | Mrs. Peery Debby Peery is the vocational counselor at Grand River Technical School. Mrs. Peery works with students in grades 9-12 who attend GRTS from CHS, juniors/seniors from area sending schools and adult students. A life lesson she shares is the importance in planning for a career. "It's never to early to begin exploring one's interest and building upon skills in order to find a rewarding career." |
