SAS Update

February 26, 2021

We are very excited to announce the St. Ann chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), which elevates a school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These five pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1929.

This past week, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on our 4.0 scale were invited to submit additional information for NJHS membership consideration by our Faculty Council. Interested candidates have turned in their materials to Mrs. Cusimano, NJHS Advisor, and will be notified of the results of the selection committee by March 8. The selection procedure is posted below.

Congratulations to all of our eligible students!

Congratulations to Mrs. Summerrise!

Mrs. Summerrise was recognized virtually today with a Lay Leader Award at the 43rd Annual African American Heritage Prayer Service that aired on the Archdiocese of Chicago YouTube Channel. A representative of the Archdiocese came down to SAS to present her the physical award, too. These awards are given to adult and student members of school communities to recognize their outstanding commitment to Catholic education, personal integrity, and commitment to faith values. Mrs. Summerrise was nominated by a colleague who is a witness to her service to Christ, the Church, and St. Ann School. The Service Awards begin at 2:57 in the video below. What a lovely tribute to Mrs. Summerrise!

TRIP Orders

After years of helping school families make a dent in their tuition, our TRIP program will be winding down. We will still place orders every Monday that we have school until late March. The last day for orders will be March 22 so that credits may be applied to outstanding tuition payments.

Leaders Are Readers

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 6:00 p.m.

Join us for Leaders Are Readers, our twice-monthly virtual story time. The link to join will be emailed that afternoon. Would your child like to read? Or do you or someone else you know want to be a guest reader? Interested readers should email Mrs. Rivas with the book you would like to read:

We Need to Know Where Everyone Is on School Days!

If your student regularly attends school in person, but for some reason needs to stay home and join virtually, you MUST notify the school office so that he or she is not mistakenly marked absent. Likewise, if your virtual student is under the weather or will not be joining classes for any other reason, you MUST notify the school office and/or your teacher. Thank you for your cooperation.

Last Chance to Turn in Your Stracks Receipts!

Receipts dated through March 1 are eligible. We will accept them until Friday, March 5 and then we must make a final tally. Thank you so much for all of your assistance with this. And a big HUGE special thanks to Mrs. Rivas for managing the project!

Tell Us What to Do with Your Angel Fund Donation!

Anyone who made a donation to the Angel Fund can redirect their contribution or ask for it back. If you have already responded, thank you! If not, please let us know by March 1. We are waiting until then to start processing the requests so that the majority may be handled all at one time--the exception is if you want POG tix, then those go out immediately. We have also had reallocations to the church building fund, the final farewell festivities for the school, 8th grade fees, the Lansing Food Pantry, tuition accounts, etc. If you have requested a refund, thank you for your patience.

Don't Forget to Turn in Your Pot of Gold Stubs!

Families should have received two tickets in the mail back in January (if you did not, please reach out to Mrs. Gray). Remember, you already paid for these with your Fundraising Fee, so you can choose to resell them or put your own name on them and turn them in! Think you can help us out and sell a few more? Five packs are available at the Parish Office for checkout (no prepayment required), and for every five you sell you have a chance at another $500. Give us a call at 895-6700-- we can even drop them in the mail to you. Who's feeling lucky?
