General Band Boosters Parent Meeting
Please join us this in the Band Room for an informative meeting about upcoming Band events including the Lock-In, Door-2-Door, Orange County Director’s Breakfast and more on Tuesday, January 16, beginning at 7 PM. We will be in need of booster volunteers for these activities, but you can also use this meeting as an opportunity to ask general questions about these events. The meeting will be over by 8 PM.
Guard Fair Share & Instrument Maintenance Fees Due
Just a reminder that the following Band fees are due today, Wednesday, January 3:
- Guard Fair Share 6
- School Instrument Maintenance Fee 2
Both fees can be paid for through SchoolPay.com or by check made payable to WPHS Band.
OCPS Director's Breakfast Volunteers Needed
We need help serving breakfast to the OCPS band directors from 8 AM - 11 AM on Friday, January 26. If you have a flexible daytime schedule, please consider helping us to show our appreciation for the band directors in Orange County. Go to the Band Calendar and click on the helping-hand icon on January 26, or contact Lee McBurney directly at mcburneyfl@gmail.com.
"Piano & Forte" Tri-M Tutoring
With the Solo & Ensemble coming up and Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble I and Drumline auditions just around the corner, Tri-M would to introduce to you the "Piano & Forte" music tutoring program.
As most of you probably already know, upperclassmen and higher-level ensemble students often help underclassmen after-school without asking for any compensation. "Piano & Forte" is meant to recognize these students and expand the available help to more students. Fortes are music tutors who can earn community service/CAS hours for helping the Pianos with anything music-related.
Please see more information and sign up here.
Door-2-Door Fundraiser
Our most important fundraiser of the year is coming soon on Saturday, February 3 from 8 AM - 4 PM. We will meet in the Band Room. Participation in this event is mandatory for all students and has been on the Band Calendar since July. If you have a scheduling conflict that is of an unavoidable nature and cannot be rescheduled, you must speak with Mr. Blackmer this week. Planning for this important event is already underway. Students should sign up with a partner for Door-2-Door this week on the windows outside of the Band Room.
We are still in need of drivers for Door-2-Door. Drivers can earn financial credit for their child’s Band account. The credit for the past several years has been around $75 per participant. Drivers must turn in a photo copy of their driver’s license and auto insurance card, and be a registered ADDition volunteer signed up for the Door-2-Door opportunity. Please contact Candace Griffin at grifcan@gmail.com if you can help so she can add you to our list.
Amazon Fundraising Opportunity!
The holiday season is upon us when we purchase items online! Another new fundraising tool we are utilizing is to raise money for the band every time we shop at Amazon. The Winter Park High School Alumni Band Association is a registered charity on Smile.Amazon.com, so please remember to use this unique link to shop at Amazon every time, and a small percentage of the sale (at no cost to you) will automatically be sent quarterly to the WPHSABAA account and then donated to the Winter Park Band Program. If we all use this link every time, we can raise funds on an ongoing basis to help the band! https://smile.amazon.com/ch/27-0964817
