The Compass Rose
Principal's Message
To the East Elementary School community:
It was so wonderful to have our students back in the building! Energy was high over the first few days, capped off by welcoming our Kindergarten friends to school on Thursday! We loved seeing our 5th grade helpers holding hands and showing K students where to go when they got on the bus and older siblings waiting to greet their younger K brothers or sisters as they left at the end of the day!
A few reminders for our East families:
- Buses will take time over the first few weeks...it's normal for arrival and dismissal times to be off a bit and for there to be a few kinks. Thank you in advance for your patience!
- Please be sure you have updated PickUp Patrol to include your plans for Kids In Action after-school care. More on this below.
- We will be sending home school health forms, communication & photo opt-our forms, and the PTO annual appeal. Please return these forms to us as soon as you can.
- 2:40 to 3:10 is our busiest time of the day. Please hold non-emergency office drop-ins or calls if it can be avoided.
- Calendars, lunch information, our staff directory, and need-to-know info can be found in our Back-To-School Information document linked below.
- Mr. Hawes
Summer Reading Challenge
Please be sure to remind your student to return their Summer Reading Challenge to their classroom teacher. We will be announcing winners at the end of next week!
PickUp Patrol *including KIA
East Elementary will continue to use PickUp Patrol as our hub for communicating all absences, transportation, dismissal/arrival notifications, and other parent needs with our Main Office and staff. Parents can set default transportation/dismissal changes, add notes or reminders to our staff regarding pickup changes and PickUp Patrol will generate a report for us each day to ensure we get your kiddos where they need to be...all from your phone!
It is important that parents of Kids In Action students set their preferences for Pick Up Patrol (ex. if your student is scheduled for KIA on Wednesday but you'd like them to take the bus that day, PickUp Patrol needs to be updated. If no changes are made, they will be signed in to KIA).
PickUp Patrol provides parents with easy-to-use setup directions within the PDF below. If you need assistance, our administrative assistants are happy to help you get registered (contact kmariani@hinghamschools.org or enelson@hinghamschools.org).
