Dear Graham Families,
Happy October! We are now in our 7th week of school, and our teachers are busier than ever creating and implementing learning opportunities for all of our Falcons. Our classrooms, common areas, LMC, and outdoor areas are buzzing with excitement, joy, and continued learning and exploring.
A wonderful illustration of all these great things happening at Graham arrived last week, when we learned that V. Blanch Graham Elementary School had earned the distinction of “#7 in Best Public Elementary Schools in Illinois” by Niche.com! Niche, which released its eighth annual version of the rankings this week, looks at a variety of criteria in determining a grade for both public and private K-12 schools in Illinois, including academics, teachers and diversity.
We would like to thank our students, faculty, community members, and district leadership team for their hard-work and dedication in creating the environment that allows our school to be the best it can be.
I look forward to our continued partnership with your family as we work together to have an amazing school year!

Picture Day | Retakes/ Purchasing
If you missed picture day this past Monday, there will be another opportunity for your student to get their picture taken. Retakes will be held on November 9th at 12:00pm, along with candids for the yearbook.
If you did not purchase photos the day of, but still wish to, you can visit shop.hrimaging.com to purchase pictures of your student. Look for V Blanche Graham Elementary, select the 9/27 picture date, and then enter your students name (last then first), and press search.
IMPORTANT | Health Services Reminder
Please remember that for all New and Kindergarten students, the required State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination and Immunization forms must be submitted prior to Friday, October 15, 2021. If you have questions or need assistance regarding getting or submitting these documents, please contact Nurse Randi Kleffman or Health Aid Lisa Finelli.
Bus Safety Reminders
Thank you for helping maintain a safe and sound environment for our students! Following correct bus drop-off and pick-up procedures will help ensure a safe entrance and exit for all Graham students:
- School buses use the front driveway for loading and unloading. Cars are not permitted in the circle drive until all buses have arrived in the morning or have left in the afternoon.
- Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate that the bus has stopped, and that children are getting on or off. Motorists must stop their cars and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop sign is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving before driving again.
- Be alert, and drive cautiously. Despite warnings, children still may dart into the street with out looking for traffic.

Family Fall Storytime
In keep Graham LMC traditions alive, building a sense of community, and showing that reading is for learning and recreation, families were invited to create a special reading event in their homes this past weekend.
Some chose to read next to pumpkins, under cozy blankets, by a fire, and even with furry friends! Take a look below to see some of our students FALL in love with reading!
