From The Desk of Mr. Allen

Good Day Tribe,

Thank you all for attending our Academic Night last week. It was a pleasure having you in the building again to learn more about our academic programming. If you were not able to attend, please know that your scholar's teacher will share presentations in their weekly newsletter. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

As we complete the last two weeks of September, we are asking that your scholar be on time and in attendance daily. It is important that they are ready for the day in order to begin on a positive note and to ensure they do not miss academic content. If your scholar must be absent, a doctor or parent note is required in order for the absence to be marked excused. You have three days, from the date of the absence, to send in a note which will be turned in to our attendance clerk, Essence Nzola.

Our fall conferences will be held after fall break; therefore, you will be receiving additional information soon. This will be an opportunity for you and your scholar's teacher to discuss their progress. We are asking for 100% participation. This work is too valuable not to partner with one another. It is important that you sign-up for a conference when those are made available. As always, if you have any concerns before then please reach out to your scholar's teacher.

Your Program Director,

Lamar Allen

Volunteers

We are continuing to look for volunteers, and you are all great candidates for this opportunity. We've opened up our form again so that you can sign-up to volunteer. If interested, please complete this FORM.

We've linked the FCPS Family and Community Volunteer Handbook and the FCPS Volunteer Application. The volunteer application will be the first step in growing our volunteer numbers at CGWP. If you have any issues completing the volunteer application, please reach out to our Administrative Assistant, Desiree Marshall with your questions or concerns.

Big picture

Give CGWP a Shout-Out

Leave a shout-out for CGWP. We will share your shout out with staff members and celebrate within our community! Follow the linked form and spread the love for all things CGWP!

Important Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

NO PARKING ON EAST SIXTH STREET AT ANY TIME! This keeps drive ways free from being blocked, creates a more safe environment for scholars, and keeps traffic flowing.

Safety is a priority for us; therefore, we continue to set the expectation of using the afternoon car line rather than parking on East Sixth to pick up students at our front entrance. This is true for parking in the visitor lot to pick scholars up from the front office or library as well. Our walkers are only students who exit the school building and walk to their designated home.
