Trojan Families,

zoom_out_map

Thank you for a good start to the school year as we embark on a journey to Build a Brighter Future. We hope your students are filled with excitement as they see the school evolve into a bright, vibrant learning environment. Our motto this year is "Every Student, Every Day, Whatever It Takes." We will continue to build a positive school culture of believing all kids can learn and learn at high levels.

Our annual Fall Open House is on Wednesday, September 14th from 5:00-6:30pm. You will have an opportunity to tour the school with your student and see how far we have come with phase one of our construction. There is no need to register for this school event, but we do ask families to come with siblings and parents.

Fall Picture Day is here! Picture Day is Tuesday, September 13th. More information about Picture Day can be found here.

School Meals

Families can complete an application to determine if they qualify for free and reduced pricing options for meals.

Please note, we recently had a change to our lunch prices. Lunch will be 2.75 daily for a student and breakfast is free for all students. Any student who would like breakfast should go to the cafeteria right when they enter the building starting at 8:20.

Please pay for your meals using your myschoolbucks.com account. If you wish to send your child with cash or a check, it must be in an envelope with their first and last name, grade level and homeroom teacher and placed in the lockbox in the main hallway, outside of the school office before they go to class in the morning. To pay for the school fee and/or add money to you child’s lunch account (lunch is not free for kids this year), use www.myschoolbucks.com

Also, please make sure to communicate with your child if you wish them only to have their lunch from home. Due to Illinois Laws, we cannot deny your child a lunch if they request one. This is an adjustment for all of our students as we return to pre-pandemic pricing, so be sure to discuss the change with your child.

Menus are available by visiting https://epcusd.schooldish.com . *Please note menus are subject to change without notice.

'Building a Brighter Future' Construction Updates

For Your Awareness

The construction crew is required to check in at the job trailer with the construction manager every morning. All crew are required to have a background check on file prior to working on the job site. Upon checking in at the job trailer they will proceed to check in with the John Mills School secretary, Mrs. Wurtz, to receive a visitor ID. At the end of the day, the crew will sign out with the front desk by returning their ID and again checking out with the construction manager. We hope this brings you comfort in knowing we have safeguards in place for the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

PreK screening information can be accessed here

Trojan Swag

School spirit is celebrted as a way to bring the John Mills School community together, emphasizing the importance of belonging to something bigger than ourselves. We encourage everyone, parents and students alike, to participate in School Spirit Fridays by wearing maroon and gold. Be proud of the school you represent.
