8th Grade Graduation Fundraising Opportunity

7th Graders Partake in Annual Musical Experience...Without Leaving the Building
Each year, the 7th-grade students and teachers take a trip to a local theater to watch a live musical production. Since the pandemic has forced the team to cancel this annual experience, the 7th-grade teachers created a virtual musical experience for the kids to enjoy instead. On Thursday/Friday, January 28/29th, all 7th-grade students had the privilege of attending a live streaming viewing of Hamilton, the award-winning musical, straight from their classroom (or Zoom if they're remote). A short intermission provided students the opportunity to enjoy concessions of popcorn, a drink, and candy.
In keeping with tradition, the 7th graders attended their theater experience in proper attire, just as the students do when they attend a live show. For our boys, dress pants, collared shirts, and ties brought a formality to the event, while our girls donned dress slacks or skirts and blouses to give the day a different, fancier feel. Students watching remotely even dressed up!
Thank you to our staff and parents for their help in keeping this tradition alive!
MAP Testing Is Coming the Week of February 16
In the fall, to establish baseline data, all students took the screener (short) version of MAP testing remotely. To better understand individual students' academic progress and needs, the MAP test we give in February will be the full-length version and will be given onsite for hybrid students. Students who have elected to learn from home will take the full version of the test remotely.
Specifically, hybrid and remote students in Group A will test the mornings of February 16 and February 18. Hybrid and remote students in Group B will test the mornings of February 17 and February 19. Our remote students will receive further instructions on how to test remotely closer to the test date.
MAP's value is that it serves as formative data for teachers to evaluate student learning and make appropriate and necessary adjustments for future instruction. There is nothing the students need to do in order to prepare for MAP other than getting a good night's sleep and eating a healthy breakfast the morning of the assessment. The work they have engaged in all year has prepared them to do well on the test.
