Builders Club
November Update & December Preview
Welcome to our Viking family! Thank you for supporting us on our community service voyage.
We have settled into our new roles within our club and are enjoying the community service opportunities that we have been able to contribute our time to. This has been an amazing learning process and we are excited to create even more opportunities for our WMS Builders to become active volunteers within Winfield.
Thank you to those who have sponsored or donated to events that we have hosted or participated in so far. We could not do all of these wonderful projects without you!
November Events
Boxed-In Event - Cowley House of Hope Fundraiser
We also requested sponsors and donations from the community to benefit this fundraiser. Thank you to all of those that donated. With this fundraiser our teams were able to raise $295.
Cowley County House of Hope had this to say on their Facebook page "We are so grateful for the community support we have received and the amazing turnout for our second annual Boxed In event. Teams from all over the county worked hard to raise money before the event and came together at Island Park for a box dwelling competition!
This event raised over $14,000!! These funds will go towards both providing emergency shelter in the upcoming months and getting us closer to building a physical homeless shelter! Thank you to everyone who participated!"

Veterans Lunch
On Thursday, November 11th, students from the WMS Builders Club travelled to the American Legion Post #10 to serve lunch to our local veterans. In addition to serving them a meal, WMS students wrote thank you cards that were handed out to each veteran that attended the luncheon.
Thank you to each and every veteran for your service to our country.

On Tuesday, November 16th, Builders Club Officers & Project Leaders participated in our town's annual Isle of Lights set-up day. Volunteers of all ages from many different groups and organizations assist in putting together and standing up displays. (A special thank you to Talaia White from The Last Tangle for helping lead our Builders through set-up.)
Winfield Isle of Lights is open nightly from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM starting November 21st and ending on December 30th, 2021. Take a trip through the lights to brighten your holiday season.

Thanksgiving Meals
On Wednesday, November 24th, WMS Builders Club sponsors delivered to some of our USD 465 families. Students raised $1,570 to be able to purchase a turkey dinner that included a turkey, sides, rolls and a pumkin pie for 21 different families in our school district.
Thank you to the many community members who helped by donating time and or money to this cause. All recipients were extremely thankful for the Thanksgiving meal that they were able to share with their family.
