students will continue to describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.
Lesson 2 Wordly Wise vocabulary words will continue until Wednesday, October 16.
Math
We will also start multiplication fact fluency tests beginning next week.
Science and Social Studies
Describe early American Indian cultures and their development in North America. a. Locate the regions where American Indians settled in North America: Arctic, Northwest Southwest, Plains, Northeast, and Southeast. b. Compare and contrast how American Indians in each region used their environment to obtain food, clothing, and shelter. c. Discuss how American Indians continue to contribute to American life (e.g., arts, literature)
Science: We will continue to investigate how external features and adaptations (camouflage, hibernation, migration, mimicry) of animals allow them to survive in their habitat and use evidence to construct an explanation of why some organisms can thrive in one habitat and not in another.
Test on Chapter 6 is scheduled for Thursday, October 17.
Zoo Atlanta
Our field trip to Zoo Atlanta will be Friday, October 18th. A separate email will be sent to chaperones with more information.
On the day of the trip, your child should wear sneakers and their new gray third grade t-shirts. The shirts that were ordered earlier in the year will be delivered to school next week.
All students will need to bring a disposable sack lunch and drink from home, unless they signed up to buy a school sack lunch. We will not have anywhere to store lunch boxes or water bottles, so please make sure your child can throw away all parts of their lunch. Thank you!
AR
You will now be able to access this information at home whenever you'd like, I will no longer be sending home monthly word counts and student quiz records.
If you misplaced your login information, it is:
Website: https://hosted51.renlearn.com/48836/HomeConnect/
Username: student's 9 number
Password: student's 4 digit birthday (2 digit month & 2 digit day)
I recommend checking the website frequently or subscribing to the email alerts (directions for how to do this were at the bottom of the letter), so you can keep track of your child's word count and books read.
