Calamity Days this Year
Information on calamity days has been updated to the district website
https://www.pickerington.k12.oh.us/calamity-days/.
Calamity days are not school closure days as they have been in the past. Calamity days have been converted to virtual learning days. Students are still required to attend school virtually from home.
All students need to log in for attendance through Infinite Campus on the calamity virtual learning day. Note that Infinite Campus may be slightly delayed for a student who would have otherwise been “in person.”
Students will be able obtain assignments via SeeSaw starting at 10:00 AM. Virtual work will be issued for the students who were scheduled to attend in-person. This is under the assumption the opposite cohort already has direction on what work needs completed on the planned-for virtual day.
All teachers will give their best attempt to arrange for and communicate with their scheduled in-person students to attend at minimum one Google Meet session. Invites should come from the homeroom teacher. For related arts teachers, 1:00-2:00 has been reserved for Google Meets and other work with students. We are sympathetic to the adjustments families need to make for a calamity virtual learning day, but strongly encourage students to attend their Meet times if possible.
VLA will follow their normal schedule to the best extent possible. Any changes will be communicated by the classroom teacher.
4-H Information
4-H is a non-formal, educational youth development program for individuals ages 5 and in Kindergarten to age 19 as of January 1, 2020. Younger children (ages 5-8) are eligible for participation in the Ohio 4-H Cloverbud Program while those who are age 8 and in 3rd grade or 9 years old begin participating in the traditional Ohio 4-H Program. 4-H members have educational and fun experiences with their friends and family at meetings, social activities, tours, camps, judging and fairs. They increase their self-confidence and personal life skills while learning about specific subjects - anything from animals or computers to public speaking, cooking, art, gardening and environmental sciences, just to name a few project topics.
Please see the flyers below for more information about the traditional 4-H program as well as the Cloverbud program for younger students.
