Importance of rosa parks
She made America what it is today!
Her background
She was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 4, 1913. Her and her husband actually left Alabama and moved to Chicago, in order to get away from harassment in 1957. She was a bright, hard working, and committed young woman.
Her Actions
Rosa Parks was just an ordinary African American woman until the day she stood up to a white man. On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama Parks refused to obey bus driver James Bake's order to give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled.

Why i believe she deserves her own monument
Her act in 1955 inspired the Montgomery bus boycott by 17,000 black citizens, the event that was also called the beginning of the modern Civil Rights Movement. In my opinion she made America what it is today. Without her pride and courageous acts America could still be segregated. NO oppositions
Bus Monument
The National city lines bus, No. 2857, on which Rosa Parks was riding before she was arrested, is now a museum exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum.

The monument Iv'e created for Rosa Parks
Handcuffs
I've chosen to create a monument of broken handcuffs, in order to show her want or desire to be free. Rosa Parks was against segregation. All she ever wanted was to be free and to be treated equal.
Why i chose black handcuufs
The reasoning behind why i chose handcuffs, was in order to show how she felt. A famous quote by Rosa Parks stats that," I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people."
Costs of her monument
This monument will stand 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide; placed in Tuskegee, Alabama. It will be made out of black granite and will have her famous quotes and importance to America in the 1950's and now. The money that i will acquire to build this monument representing Rosa Parks will be mostly donated money or charities and supported by the federal government.
