Ms. Wittmann's Peek at the Week
January 18-22
Dear Families,
I would like to take a moment to recognize and remember the love and peace that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. brought to our world as he worked as a civil rights activist to fight for the deserved equity of our people of color. As we begin this week, think about the words of this brilliant man, and reach out to someone with love, kindness, and equity in your heart in his honor.
In an effort to help you prepare for the return of school, below are some things to think about. There will be more information coming out as we get closer to the date of the return to school. I can tell you that if you are currently in my classroom and you are going to return to school in-person on February 16, your child will have me as their in-person classroom teacher. If your child has enrolled in the Virtual Learning School, your child will be transitioned to a different Global Arts teacher for the remainder of the school year.
BACK TO SCHOOL: February 16 will mark the day that in-person 3rd graders will begin our learning at Global Arts Plus. We will go back to school following our full day regular school hours from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm. daily. Please watch for further updates and announcements from administration on parent drop-off and pick-up routines.
SCHOOL IPAD: Your child will need to return to school with his or her iPad and charger. Please be sure your child has a backpack to carry their technology safely.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Please wait to hear further instructions before purchasing any school supplies. I will let you know what you will need as the return to in-person gets a little closer and I have more information.
RECESS CLOTHING: Please send your child to school with a warm winter jacket, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens. We will be going outside twice daily for a recess and stretch break. If students need any help getting these items, please reach out to me and I will see what I can do to get resources to you.
EXTRA CLOTHING: It is also a really great idea to send an extra pair of socks and pants to school with your child in case he/she gets wet on the playground. Please put a pair of tennis shoes in your child's backpack for wear inside the school. It is so uncomfortable for your child to wear their boots all day.
REMINDER: There will be NO SCHOOL for your child January 25--29. Teachers will be preparing their classrooms and attending trainings to prepare for our return to in-person learning.
Please reach out to me if you need anything.
Respectfully,
~Ms. Wittmann
