A note from the principal's desk...
WOW! What a great week of learning at RPI. Students got to experience the amazing food from Chef LaKisha Harris and learn more about the importance and history of Soul Food. We can't thank her enough. Our specials classes continue to offer kids unique experiences in art, coding/stem, music, PE and world language. Our core classes continue to focus on collaboration and unique learning experiences. Truly a great week.
We also can celebrate student's behaviors towards one another. The last two weeks we saw an uptick in certain behaviors after we reset expectations around using passes when not in class, keep hands/feet/objects to self and being where they are supposed to be. Your help and conversations with them at home is so helpful! Let's keep this train rolling on this track.
We will continue to focus on this through the end of the year, but it is especially important as we look towards spring break...where we typically see lots of unwanted behaviors.
March is a month that many schools promote reading. While we really push students to read all the time, here are some fun things you can do with your kids this month!
Together we can do this! Keep having those conversations! We appreciate you.
Have a great week everyone!
Yours in Rocket Pride,
Scott

Sports Physicals
6th graders (our current 5th graders) can participate in Cross Country, Wrestling and Swimming/Dive at the middle school next year.
If your student is a 6th grader now, they must have a physical in order to start a sport.
Physicals must be dated after April 15th of 2022 in order to participate in the 2022-2023 school year.
Here is a great, inexpensive option for you! Physicals on the Fly being offered by local Physician Assistant and RP Parent Kilee Aamodt, PA-C.

100 Hours Challenge
The Reeths-Puffer Wellness Committee is challenging all staff and students (and families) to participate in 100 hours outdoors in the month of March. This challenge is inspired from 1,000 Hours Outside .
This is an attempt to match nature time with screen time. Children are spending an average of 1200 hours a year on screens. Let's work to encourage spending this time outdoors and shift towards a more productive and healthy outcome. :)
This challenge began on January 1. If you are feeling inspired to try 1,000 hours outdoors, that challenge runs through the end of the calendar year.
