Leadership Day

Leadership Day is coming up this Friday, May 20th. The Lighthouse Team has been hard at work planning and preparing for this day ~ it's going to be awesome!!! Here are important things to know/remember as we get closer to this big day!

Tri-Fold Boards:

  • Please have the tri-folds completed and ready to go by Wednesday, May 18th ~ you can turn these in to my office.
  • Please choose no more 3-4 students to be at the tri-fold on the morning of Leadership Day (7:50-8:30) who can speak about the leadership job and can answer questions ~ please fill in the names of the students who will be with the board at Leadership Day at this link: Tri-Fold Board Leaders

Event Details:

Time: 8:30-10:30 am

(8:00-8:30 is registration ~ visitors will also have an opportunity to view a video teaching the 7 Habits and walk around to view tri-folds and speak with students from the different campus-wide leadership roles during this time)

Campus Tours: 9:15-10:00 am

  • Tour guides will bring the groups to your area and release them to go into any of the grade level classrooms.
  • There will be overhead music or an announcement to help the tour guides with gathering back up their group and moving them to the next station.
  • Other stops on the tours include the garden, the foyer where our campus scoreboards are located, and the Library where students will be showing their Make A Difference Projects and Science Fair Projects.
  • Halls should have up student work reflective of a habit. Again, your Lighthouse Team rep has info on which habit your grade level is focusing on.

Other Important Information:

  • We will be having a school-wide dress rehearsal in the MPR on Thursday, May 19th starting at 1:30 pm ~ 5th grade will have specials first thing that morning (7:50-8:40).
  • The event will be recorded on video (including each tour) so there will be an opportunity for all to experience the event.
  • This is an important day and we need all hands on deck, so please do not request to be off this day ~ We NEED You!!
  • We will be beginning rehearsals on Monday and will be pulling children each afternoon at 1:50 to practice for the big day.
  • 5th grade will have specials in the morning each day Monday thru Thursday so we can hold rehearsals in the afternoon.
  • On Friday, we modified the Specials schedule to start after 10:30. It is listed below:
  • 10:40-11:10.....5th Grade
  • 11:15-11:45....4th Grade

Textbook Audit

All elementary schools will be audited each year. I will not be collecting all books and storing them in the book room. Please refer to the list below (and pic at end of this section) of how and where to put the books. Stacking the books in the order given will help both myself and the auditor efficiently count and check all materials.

Please have all books stacked in one spot above your lockers.

Order of Book/Materials

  • DRA Box
  • TPRI Kit- Grades K-2
  • Journeys TEs and Student Books in spine number order
  • Handwriting without Tears TE (soft back-) Grades K-3
  • Write Source TE and Student Books- Grades 2-5
  • Phonics Bundles (Fountas and Pinnel)
  • Sitton Spelling TE- Grades 1-5
  • Context for Learning Math (paperback books)-Grades K-5
  • Bridges (binders only)
  • Decodable Readers- First Grade only

As for the list of materials above, not all materials apply to all... I will get you a teacher receipt listing what you have checked out for this year.

Please remember, this needs to be completed by May 25th. Our audit will take place on May 27th. Please let me know if you have any questions or need clarification.
