NORTH BAND NOTES

The "Approaching Normal" Edition

SECTIONALS BEGIN TUESDAY!

All students in Symphonic 1 and 2 will begin weekly sectionals on Tuesday, September 8. We worked with student's schedules as best we could to could avoid as many conflicts as possible. It is very important that students attend their own sectional, as we work on things that are specific to the instrument. Morning sectionals begin promptly at 7:00am, so students should plan on arriving by about 6:50am. Afternoon sectionals begin at 3:45pm and wrap up between 4:45 and 4:55. As with all North Band activities, communication is incredibly important. If you are going to be late or miss a section, please communicate with a director via email as soon as possible. Refer to your child's Sectional Guidelines handout for all other information.

HOODIES and PULLOVERS FOR SALE!

There was much excitement last week when we revealed the fleece pullover option to the hoodie for this year! We have two different options:

For $30, you will receive an embroidered hooded sweatshirt, similar to what we had before but this one is gray with the new North Viking Band logo.

For $40, you can purchase the 1/4 zip fleece pullover pictured above. For an additional $5, you can have your name embroidered on the back. If you've seen any of the high school pullovers, (Mighty Mustang Band, Pacesetters, Orchestra) they look really great!

If you ordered a hoodie at North registration, we still have your order. However, if you'd like to upgrade to the fleece option, just send a check for the difference. I will have order forms available next week but was waiting on the artist to transfer our logo to a gray background. The above is a cut and paste (literally!) version. :) We plan to place our order near the end of the month so that we can have them by mid-October.

Sizes for both items run Youth Large through Adult XL, with XXL costing a bit extra.

BAND OFFICERS

It's time to elect Band Officers! If you are interested in running for any of the offices listed below, please write Mrs. Hames a letter explaining the following:

- Introduce yourself

- List any previous leadership experience (school, church, other organizations)

- Explain how you will serve the band in the office that you are running for

Officer elections are not to be confused with a popularity contest. Only those who are truly interested in service should consider running.

PRESIDENT - 8th graders only

VICE PRESIDENT

SECRETARY/TREASURER

8TH GRADE REPRESENTATIVE

7TH GRADE REPRESENTATIVE

PARTY CHAIR (and committee)

Letters are due to Mrs. Hames by 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 9. You may email or hand deliver your letter. Thank you in advance for considering running for officer!

If you wonder what they are doing in the Band Hall before and after school, the answer is, having fun with their friends! Here are the masses preparing for a day at school...aka "that building where the Band Hall is!" We are thankful for our Band family and look forward to another amazing week!
