GET TO KNOW......ANGIE WISHARD
*Tell us what you do in the CSD, how long you have been here and why you enjoy being a Cardinal.
I have worn a few hats with the Clinton School District since I started in 2002. My first year I taught 5th grade. After one year in 5th grade I knew I was an early childhood teacher at heart so I transferred to kindergarten. I taught kindergarten for the next 12 years. In 2015 I became a preschool teacher at the Early Childhood Center. I am currently teaching an integrated classroom where I have both early childhood special education and early childhood regular education children in my class. This is my 17th year with the Clinton School District and 20th year teaching all together.
*Tell us a little bit about your family/where you are from.
My husband Brian and I live in Clinton with our 2 daughters Gentry and Briley. I graduated from Clinton High School in 1991. My husband, Brian, is the Superintendent of the Leesville School District. Gentry graduated from Clinton High School in 2018 and attends UCM and plays softball for the UCM Jennies. Briley is in 7th grade at Clinton Middle School. Briley participates in archery, track, softball, basketball, Junior Optimist Club and National Junior Honor Society. We keep very busy attending our daughter’s events.
*If you were to write a book about your career in education, what would the title be?
If I were to write a book it would be titled The Things Children Say. Children say things that are so funny and tell so many things that their parents would be embarrassed if they knew I knew.
*What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was growing up I always wanted to be a nurse. After high school I had a job that required I fill in assisting a doctor on occasion. I quickly learned I did not have the stomach for nursing. I knew my passion was to help others so I decided to become a teacher.
*What has been your favorite vacation and why?
To be honest I am kind of a homebody. I have not gone on many vacations. My family and I are taking our first BIG vacation this summer as we are all four going on a cruise in June!
*What are 3 things people would be surprised to know about you?
I grew up on a farm and loved to help work cattle and get dirty.
I am not a movie watcher…..if I sit still that long I fall asleep.
I hate to get my feet dirty!!! If I do I have to wash them!
