Principal's Message

At our leadership assembly on Monday we introduced our February character trait. This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and reduce stress. Honesty is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.

Here is an HONESTY activity to do with your family at home to support what kids are learning here at school:

Set aside some time to gather as a family and check in with each other. Ask each family member, “How are you feeling today?” Practice Honesty when responding and listen carefully as each family member shares. Use the emotion check-in questions to learn more. Challenge yourselves to check in with each other on a regular basis!

Emotion Check-In Questions:

● Tell me more about that feeling.

● Why do you think you are feeling that emotion?

● What do you need right now?

Attendance

Beginning February 1st, we will be keeping track of classroom attendance as a school and reminding students about the importance of being at school on time every day. Each day that a class has 90% or more students present they will get to move up our attendance chart. At the end of the month the primary class and intermediate class with the best attendance or reach the top of the chart will receive a rootbeer float party provided by Mrs. Hardtke and Mr. Gould! Additionally, kids who have perfect attendance receive brag tags at our monthly assembly.

Students Arriving Late for the School Day:

When students are tardy, parents are no longer able to drop them at the curb, they need to walk them into the school building and sign them in with office staff.
