What a great fundraiser! We raised $34,956 for our Collins students, and we are excited for the funding it provides for class field trips, music and PE equipment, technology, field day and more! Special shout outs to Mrs. Scott's and Mr. Krieger's homerooms with the highest totals in their grade level!

RAFFLE DONATIONS NEEDED! Personal and Business donations accepted. Fun toy or gift items and themed baskets for the student raffle are requested. 5th and 6th grade students will be able to view and try their luck to win!

STAAR Redesign
The STAAR redesign is a result of House Bill 3906 passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in 2019. The redesign will be implemented in the state summative assessments administered in the 2022–2023 school year.
The STAAR redesign includes several components:
- New, non-multiple-choice question types
- More cross-curricular reading passages
- Evidence-based writing incorporated into Reading tests
- Tests administered online (with faster results)
- Robust online accommodations for students with specific learning needs
- Removal of maximum time allowed (students will have until end of day)

Counselor Updates
Digital Safety Presentation
Mrs. McCure and Ms. Aymond will be giving a presentation about Keeping Kids Safe in a Digital World on Thursday, October 27th from 10:00-10:45 am in the Collins Cafe. We will be talking about development and health, technology prevalence, how to keep kids safe in a digital world, and different resources to keep kids safe online.
Please bring your own coffee, and we will provide light refreshments.If you are interested in attending, please use the Sign-up Genius here to sign up. Attendance is limited to 30 participants.
Coats for Kids

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon week is October 24th through October 28th! We will be celebrating by having dress up days, special announcements, decorations, and by having officers come read to some classes on campus! Please see the flyer below for our dress up days.
District Anxiety Presentation
The Guidance and Counseling department for the district will be hosting a parent presentation called Flipping the Switch on Anxiety. The next presentation will be on October 25th at Grand Oaks High School and will be from 6:30-8:00 pm.
Gifted and Talented Updates
Save the date: CURRENT GT students' families are invited to attend GT Parent Information Night on Monday, October 24th at 5:15 in the gym. Doors will open at 5:00. Parking is available from the Gosling driveway.

Donations Requested
We give out a large number of bottled waters to students who forget theirs at home. Would you consider donating cases of water to the clinic? Water is an essential part of a healthy diet and to promote this, we want to be able to give bottles of water to students who need them. Thank you!
Parents - Please be aware!
Parents, please be aware of the Paqui One Chip Challenge 2022. The challenge is to eat this extremely spicy ghost pepper/Carolina reaper chip without vomiting. It causes extreme vomiting, illness and GI discomfort. Extreme allergic reactions are possible. Collins students may not bring or consume any product associated with the extreme challenge.

- 4:00 PM Flights 1-4 dismissed along with bike riders
- 4:07 PM Walkers dismissed. Car riders will meet parents at cones 1 - 7. Once a flight is loaded, it will be dismissed to take a RIGHT hand turn only to exit.
- Buses will be dismissed based on bus arrival to campus.
