January Newsletter for BCIS Families
January 5, 2023
January 5, 2022
Dear BCIS Families,
I hope you all had a great break and were ready for school to resume. We have had THE BEST first 2 days back and are so excited to get this semester started!
Here is a reminder that we do not have school on Fridays this semester. We will have four remote learning days during the second semester (January 27, March 2, March 31, and April 28). All Remote Learning days are on Fridays except for March 2. We will have Parent/Teacher Conferences along with a Remote Learning day on March 2 which is a Thursday.
You will find all of the Fridays and Remote Learning Days listed in the Mark Your Calendar Section of this newsletter. Please take time to read the newsletter and check out the Counselor's Corner section which always has great information.
Reminders:
- Per our student handbook, children must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
- School starts at 8:45. If you arrive at 8:45 or after, please park and check your child in through the office. If you drop off at BCECC, you must drop off by 8:40. Students getting dropped off at BCECC close to 8:45 are arriving to the IS late and without safety procedures in place. Barricades are taken down at 8:45 and supervision of the crosswalk stops at 8:45. Because we want to ensure the safety of our students, students who arrive at BCECC in the car rider drop off line after 8:40 will be redirected to drop off in the front of BCIS.
Before/After School Schedule:
8:20 Doors Open - Please do not drop your children off prior to 8:20 as there is no supervision before that time. (Students will either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or go directly to the gym.) Once inside the gym, students will be provided with a quiet, calm environment where they will be provided an opportunity to enjoy some silent reading.
8:40 Breakfast Ends
(Students should be at school by 8:35 if they wish to eat breakfast.)
8:45 School Starts
3:40 Car Rider/Daycare Dismissal
3:45 Bus Rider Dismissal
Attendance Matters: In order to give your student every opportunity for success, please prioritize daily attendance.
Please take a moment to read pages 10-12 of the BCIS Handbook (linked below) to familiarize yourself with Attendance Requirements. It is important to note that any student missing more than 7 days of school per semester may be subject to retention.
My door is always open to each and every one of you. I welcome your ideas and feedback.
Thank you for trusting the staff of BCIS with your children!
