Kindergarten and First Grade Field Trip to the Playhouse

On Friday Oct. 21 our kindergarten and first grade students enjoyed a field trip to the Playhouse. It is exciting to begin taking field trips again. Stay tuned for more trips planned throughout the school year!

New Boiler at Mote

You should have received a phone call on Friday explaining that we did evacuate the building for less than 20 minutes after a small pin hole gas leak was found in one of the pipes. The gas was shut off to the pipe. We evacuated and allowed for Delmarva and the Fire Department to assess the building and deem it safe for us to be inside. Thank you to all the staff and students for the cooperation and patience as we worked to ensure the safety of all Mote members. This is why we practice fire drills often so we are prepared and ready for a real need.

Picture Day

Picture Day is scheduled for Friday November 4. Please do not send in money prior to November 4. The teachers do not collect money. It goes directly to the photographers on Picture Day.

Mote Homework Philosophy

Mote staff through the building leadership team creating a Mote specific Homework Philosophy that will both encourage parental support of student learning and provide time for students to practice what they are learning while acknowledging the varying supports available at home and the busy schedules that our families have in the evenings.

Dismissal

Dismissal is a busy time for staff and students. Our only priority is making sure students make it home safely. Here is how you can help:

  • All changes to your child's dismissal should be communicated in writing. Phone calls are only for last minute emergency changes and should be made by 3:15 pm.
  • When possible, allow for your child to enter and exit on the rear passenger side. If not possible, your child is asked to cross in front of your car, not the rear.
  • Parents should remain in their car during car line. Mote staff is not permitted to buckle your child in. If your child needs assistance, move to the past the crosswalk in car line and you may get out at that point to buckle in your child.
  • Dismissal is not a time for parent conferences with staff. We are happy to work with you on a method of weekly or daily communication.

Thank you for helping us to keep dismissal running smoothly.
