Lucy's Early Film Career
At age 15 her mother let her enroll in a New York City drama school. Despite her longing to make it on stage, Ball was too nervous to draw much notice. The school wrote her mother and said, "Lucy is wasting her time and ours. She is too shy and reticent to put her best foot forward." So she remained living in NYC. However in 1927, she found work as a model. At 1st she modeled a fashion designer's clothes, then for cigarettes. In the early 1930's Ball moved to Hollywood in search for other acting opportunities. She eventually landed a part as an extra on The Ritz Brothers. Then in the 1950's, took the acting community by storm.
I Love Lucy
This sitcom was very popular in the 1950's and had more than 1 million people watching per week! I Love Lucy was a show about a woman named Lucy Ricardo. She the crazy wife of a Cuban bandleader, Ricky Ricardo. Ricky tries to succeed in show business, while Lucy (while having the intention of helping) usually gets into some kind of trouble that drives Ricky insane! Their best friends are Fred and Ethel Mertz, who are also their landlords. Ethel becomes Lucy's less-than-willing partner in crime. Ricky and Lucy welcomed Little Ricky in 1953, who's birth was a national TV event! later in the show's run, the Ricardo's ( and the Mertz's) moved to Hollywood where Ricky tries to become a movie star. I have ALL of the DVD's to this show and I recommend that you try to find the 5 seasons and watch them. This show as changed e in a way I cannot explain. ;)
4 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Lucille Ball

2. Her pregnancy on the show was very real. It came as a surprise when she announced on the she was "expecting".
3. She wasn't a true red-head. Although her vivid red hair came to be a trademark, Lucy was actually a natural brunette.

The End
The I Love Lucy show aired its last episode in 1957. The episode was called The Ricardo's Dedicate a Statue. I personally was very sad when the show ended. But the legacy will live forever in my heart. I loved I Love Lucy
