LTAC 2020 Spring grading policies
Locust Trace AgriScience Center (LTAC) Spring, 2020
COVID-19 Grading Procedure
To better serve our students and meet their needs during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the following adjustments are made to the LTAC grading policy for the Spring 2020 semester, beginning April 6, 2020, the first day of NTI, and continuing through the last instructional day for the semester:
- · LTAC students will receive a letter grade of A, B, C, D or I for each course they are enrolled in for the Spring 2020 semester.
- · Teachers will assess students’ work using the LTAC grading scale (no change to current scale).
- · Teachers will finalize and post semester grades for courses according to the following schedule:
o By noon on May 12 for Woodford students
o By 3 pm on May 21 for Seniors
o By 3 pm on May 27 for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors
- · Dual-credit courses will follow the guidelines, assignment expectations and deadlines set by the college or university in which the student is enrolled.
- · Effective March 13, 2020, the summative category is frozen. The student’s grade will remain “as is” on that date, however, students will receive the opportunity to improve their summative grades. Teachers will work with students to make-up missing summative assessments. Students may request the opportunity to re-assess any summative assignment given between February 1, 2020 and March 13, 2020. Students will work with the course instructor to develop a plan for re-assessment. The plan will be submitted to the guidance counselor and principal for final approval. Students’ summative averages will not decrease for the semester. Plans must be submitted to the guidance counselor and principal by May 11. Final approval for re-assessment will be granted no later than May 15th. Re-assessment for Woodford County students will occur on or before May 8th.
- · Effective March 13, 2020, the eOS grade for each student in each class will be frozen. Students who are not satisfied with their eOS grade may work with the individual course instructor to reflect on how they can improve their employability. A plan for improving the eOS grade can be developed with the respective course instructor and submitted to the guidance counselor and principal for final approval.
- · Beginning April 6, 2020 through the last instructional day of the semester, all grades for NTI assignments will be formative. Students may make up missing (work not turned in) formative grades assigned March 1, 2020 or after, but will not be given the opportunity to re-do formative grades prior to April 6, 2020.
·
- On On May 8th, teachers will enter a “0” (zero) for any NTI assignments from April 6th through April 27th for which work was not submitted. On May 22nd, teachers will enter a “0” (zero) for any NTI assignments from May 4th through May 21st for which work was not submitted. Students may work with the course instructor to change a “0” (zero) grade according to the procedures set forth in this document. There will be no penalty for work turned in late as long as the work is submitted according to deadlines set forth in this document.
·
- No final exams will be administered for any courses during Spring 2020.
·
- The final exam category is combined with the formative category. The new percentages are Formative: 55%, Summative: 40% and eOS: 5%.
·
- Students who fail a course for the Spring 2020 semester will receive an “I” (incomplete) grade instead of an “F”.
·
- 2020 Seniors who receive an “I” for a course will have the opportunity to recover the credit by submitting an extension request to the LTAC guidance counselor. Students and guidance counselor will consult with the course instructor. The request and credit recovery plan, generated in a collaborative effort between the student, the counselor and the teacher, will be submitted to the LTAC principal no later than June 30, 2020, for approval. If approved, all work for recovering the credit must be completed by July 31, 2020.
·
- 2020 Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors who receive an “I” for a course will have the opportunity to recover the credit by submitting an extension request to the LTAC guidance counselor. Students and guidance counselor will consult with the course instructor. The request and credit recovery plan, generated in a collaborative effort between the student, the counselor and the teacher, will be submitted to the LTAC principal no later than June 30, 2020, for approval. If approved, all work for recovering the credit must be completed within ten days of the first in-person day of instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. Students who have an “I” or incomplete grade may not enroll in the next course in a sequenced program until the work for the pre-requisite course is completed and the “I” is converted to a passing grade. Students who fail the course have the option to repeat the course.
Locust Trace instructors, the counselor and the principal reviewed and approved the above grading process on 5/1/20. The COVID-19 Pandemic requires grace and flexibility to ensure we continue to meet our students’ needs.
