Principal's Corner
Hello Meadow Park Families,
Thanks to each of you for your part in another productive and successful school year here at The Park! We have included lots of pictures from the last week of school (and links to entire folders) that showcase the fun that happened both during the last week and over the course of the 18-19 school year.
Our 8th graders were recognized last Friday for the many accomplishments they have had during their time here and I hope those in attendance found it a worthwhile program. I am positive that we had the highest number of 8th grade parents in attendance that we have ever had and that is a tribute to the great class that is leaving The Park. Awards were given for academic success, community service, attendance, and kindness. Our 6th and 7th graders have big shoes to fill!
- Ice Cream Social - Thursday, August 29th at 6 pm
- 6th Grade Only Day - Tuesday, September 3rd
- First day for ALL students - Wednesday, September 4th
- Back-to-School Night - Thursday, September 19th at 6:30 pm
- Fall Conferences - Wednesday, October 16th (after school) and Thursday, October 17th (all day); No School Friday, October 18th!
Again, thanks for your part in making this another great year at The Park!
Make it a great summer!

For Your Calendars
We will miss all of our 8th Graders!
Do you volunteer? Maybe even just one time a year?
As a reminder, for the safety and welfare of students and staff, ALL volunteer activities must be coordinated and tracked through myimpactpage.com, the District’s online volunteer management system. Volunteers must sign in and sign out through the volunteer computer located in the school front office.
To use the computer sign in, volunteers need the username and password they created for the Volunteer and Background Check Application process. To retrieve, or reset either of these, go to myimpactpage.com and click on the “Forgot Username or Password” link. The username and a temporary password will be emailed to the volunteer. To create a new permanent password, click on the “My Profile” tab on the myvolunteerpage.com home page.
Parent/Guardian Volunteers: Your myimpactpage profile is NOT linked to your child(s) information and will not follow them to different locations. In preparation for the 19/20 school year, send an email to update_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us if your child will be moving to a different school or level.
Please note, volunteer profiles will be archived if you have not logged into your profile or have not signed in through the volunteer computer for two (2) years after initially being cleared by the District to volunteer. This become a problem with some of our volunteers for the 8th Grade Party. Please make this a summer "to-do" so that you are ready to go in the fall!
Meadow Park will serve breakfast & lunch this summer!
This summer, children can enjoy free breakfast and lunches through the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by Beaverton School District Nutrition Services Department. The Summer Food Service Program is a federally-funded nutrition program open to all children ages 1-18 years. Adults can eat for just $3.50. No applications or registration are necessary, and all children and teens are welcome. In addition to lunch, some sites offer breakfast in conjunction to scheduled summer school programs.
Breakfast and lunches will be served at Meadow Park from Monday - Thursday 8:00am-8:30am & 11:30am - 12:00pm / June 24th - July 25th at Meadow Park Middle School. Please note, there is no breakfast or lunch July 4th and 5th.
8th Grade Math Makeathon
Students in Mr. Fewx, Mrs. Brougham and Mr. Packan’s 8th grade math classes took part last past week in a Micro:bit Make-a-thon! Students learned how to code this mini micro controller with a servo and an LED. They took these coding skills and created something spectacular with some simple crafts.
A Midsummer Night's Dream
7th Grade Humanities Performs A Midsummer Night's Dream
Essential Question: How can text analysis help us identify which lines of dialogue in drama propel the action, reveal aspects of a character, or provoke a decision?
Seventh graders in Ms. Hindley, Ms. McCartney and Mr. Ashkinos’ humanities classes have been analyzing scenes in order determine the emotion and motivation of each character in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They are learning how to block out staging to match what is happening in a scene. Students applied these skills while they practiced their scenes as well as acting out their scene in front of their classmates. “Putting a scene on its feet engages more learning modalities than almost anything else we can do to develop literacy skills. Plus, it builds comfort with risk-taking in our classroom communities and puts the spotlight on talents that students might not even know they have!” You Tube Link to an example of one of the performances!
LifeChanger of the Year
LifeChanger of the Year is an annual program sponsored by National Life Group that recognizes and rewards educators and school employees across the country. This program celebrates those who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.
One of the many inspirational teachers in our building was nominated for this award and because of her hard work, passion for student learning, and commitment to student success has earned the LifeChanger of the Year Award. Congratulations Mrs. Tiffany Tran-Parta! We are so fortunate to have you here as part of our Meadow Park Family.
