MANY THANKS!
Dear Skaggs Families,
From all of us at Skaggs, we wanted to thank you for entrusting us with your precious children! This year has been just magical, and we feel blessed to have been a part of our children's 2022-2023 school year. It was a huge success, and we appreciate your partnership with us.
Best wishes to our graduating fifth grade class; we will miss their smiling faces! We look forward to seeing the rest of our stars back on August 9th.
The office will be open Mon-Thurs May 30th -Jun 20th, and Jul 10th - Aug. 9th. You can reach me at Karen.lee@pisd.edu.
Have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Karen Lee
Popsicles on the Playground - Friday (last day of school) at 12:00
The PTA is offering their last popsicles at the park (k-2 playground) to provide a safe space for children to play together on their last day of school. It is always bittersweet to be looking forward to a break while missing the children already. Teachers will not be able to attend as they will be cleaning their classrooms for the summer.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found items will be on the Skaggs front porch from May 30th - June 2nd. Please come up and look through them. Any items still here after June 2nd will be donated.
Book Drive
A former Skaggs star is holding a book drive for his Eagle Scout project. If you have any books you'd like to get rid of, please bring them to the collection box outside of Skaggs by June 9th.
IMPORTANT DATES
May 26 = LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!/HALF DAY - DISMISSAL AT 12:00pm/Popsicles on the Playground at 12:00pm
Summer Reading Information from the Library
One of the most important things your student can do this summer is READ! Plano ISD is no longer providing specific book recommendations or lists for summer reading, but we do have some resources to help you and your students continue to read great books this summer.
STAAR Results
Spring 2023 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) has been redesigned to align closer to classroom instruction; reporting final test results for the redesigned STAAR will take a bit longer this year because educators from across the state will meet to provide their expert opinions on the passing scores for the redesigned assessments. The scheduled release dates is August 16 for STAAR Grades 3 - 8 results to be available in the TEA Texas Assessment Data Portal webpage.
Parents/Guardians may view their student's official score report provided by the state by using a direct link through PISD Parent Portal.
Login to the PISD Parent Portal → https://parentportal.pisd.edu/Login.aspx
Scroll down to Performance Management.
Under STAAR Results Link click on the word link.
Click on the title Texas Assessment Parent Portal to view your student's results.
TEA has provided additional information and videos on the STAAR Redesign Resources for Parents webpage.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to 5th grader Abhijay A. who received a perfect score in the last of three meets in this year’s WordMasters Challenge! Nationally, only 59 fifth graders achieved this result. Congratulations also to 5th grader Gia S. who achieved an outstanding rating. WordMasters Challenge is a critical thinking program that first encourages students to learn new words that are considerably harder than grade level, and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies.
