Principal Updates
Hello PUE Families,
Happy Friday and happy track-out day for Track 4. We hope you have an amazing break and come back ready to knock out the rest of the school year. Track 1, we look forward to having you back on campus Monday, 3/27.
A reminder that Field Day this year has been switched to days in April rather than May/June. There is information in the newsletter about the dates, as well as a signup for volunteers. This is always a lot of fun, and a great opportunity for parents to come out and have some fun with their kids.
Lastly, today is the deadline for any additional SSA requests from parents on Tr. 2, 3, or 4. No requests can be considered past today. Please see the newsletter for more information.
A couple of highlights in this newsletter and the upcoming week:
- Field Day Info and Request for volunteers and donations
- Virtual Talent Show Info
- PTA Updates including how to join the PTA (click here).
- Important upcoming dates.
Please make sure to read through for more details and additional items. Everybody have a great weekend!

We are so excited our 2023 Pleasant Union Field Day is coming up again this year. Our Field Days have been a huge success in large part due to all the parent volunteers that come out to support the event. We are asking for your help again this year to have another succesful event. We need volunteers to help work the stations for the students as well as there are several donations we are looking for. Any help you can provide is always greatly appreciated. See below for the dates, volunteer sign-up, and field day wishlist items. If you have any questions, please email Ben Stern (PE Teacher) directly at bsstern@wcpss.net.
Here are the details and sign-up link for the 2023 Field Day events.

Read to Achieve- 3rd Graders
The Excellent Public Schools Act became law in July 2012 and was implemented in the 2013-2014 school year. This Act is referred to as the North Carolina Read to Achieve Program. The goal of the State is to ensure that every student can read at or above grade level, students continue to progress in reading proficiency, and have the ability to read, comprehend, and apply complex texts. Students in third grade have several opportunities during the school year to meet the Good Cause Exemption. Your child took the Beginning of the Year (BOG) test in July/August. If your child scored achievement level 3 or higher on the BOG3 Test, the score will satisfy the promotion requirements of the Read to Achieve Legislation.
