What cyber-bullying is...

Cyber-bullying is exactly what it sounds like. It is bullying over technology sources. It's bullying over social media, messaging sources, e-mail, etc. It is just as bad as bullying in person, but sometimes even worse. It includes the use of electronic communication to call others names, go against somebody, make fun, being just rude, or flat out making somebody feel about herself.

Three cyber-bullying facts

- cyber-bullying is illegal in many states, as well as New York.

- about 21% of kids have received threatening e-mails.

- girls are twice as likely as boys to be victims of cyberbullying.

Kind words do not cost much, yet they accomplish much

-give compliments. It might seem like a small action, but that small thing can change a lot more than you think.

-speak up. Just because you're not involved in the bullying, doesn't make you any better if you sit back and let it happen.

-make a friend. If somebody looks left out, ask them to join in the next hang out you have, or even just sitting together at lunch

A small gesture goes a long way from making somebody smile, to even being the reason somebody finally realizes that they have an important meaning in life.
