Finishing the Race Strong!
As we approach the end of the marking period, we want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work and dedication your child has shown throughout the quarter. Your support has undoubtedly played a crucial role in their success so far.
As we navigate the final week of this marking period, we encourage you to continue motivating and guiding your child to finish strong. This is a pivotal time for them to consolidate their learning, demonstrate their understanding, and showcase the skills they've developed over the past few weeks. Please check with teachers to find out specific submission deadlines, as those are different for each level.
For those of you returning to in-person learning for the 3rd marking period, we thank you for being a part of the Trailblazer Family and wish nothing but the best for you going forward!

If LCS is closed due to weather, the Virtual Academy will be closed as well with the exception of Virtual Virginia courses, as they do not close for weather or have 2-hour delays. - First offense: conversation with the student about the importance of doing their own work - The parent is notified - student has the opportunity to redo the assignment or take a 0%.
- Second offense: 0% on the assignment - The parent is notified.
- Third offense: 0% on the assignment - The parent is notified - Student signs an academic contract.

Asynchronous Class Attendance Form (MS/HS Students ONLY)
Students who have an asynchronous class on their schedule must complete the Asynchronous Class Attendance Form each time they have an asynchronous class on their schedule. Read the example below:
Attendance Information
It is crucial that all students attend school each day. Life's circumstances happen; we get sick or have an appointment. It is critical that you communicate this absence as soon as possible.
All student absences are recorded as unexcused until the parent or guardian sends a written note or email to provide a justifiable reason for the absence. We do not excuse absences via phone calls. Students have 2 days upon their return to zooms to provide a note of excuse or a doctor’s note. After that time, the absence will remain unexcused. Use this link to submit your school absence note. If that link does not work, please email them to our Office Manager, Ms. Rosson, at rossoncs@lcsedu.net
Acceptable excuses include illness of a student; serious illness in the family which necessitates the absence of the student; death in the family; required court appearance; special and recognized holiday; and other reasons which may be approved by the school administration. After 10 excused absences, the only notes that will be accepted are professional notes such as a doctor's note or a note from court.
Master Your Schedule
1) Review your schedule the night before: it's never a bad idea to look over the order and times of your classes so you are totally prepared! Know where to find your zoom links too!
2) Use your asynchronous times wisely: If you have an asynchronous class, use that time to relax for a few minutes and then work on asynchronous work from that class. No point in doing it later when you can do it now!
3) Ask questions: Whether asking questions verbally or in the chat, ask your teacher questions if you do not understand something or don't know where you go next. We will help you out!
