Arts in Montessori

"If we try to think back to the dim and distant past... what is it that helps us reconstruct those times, and to picture the lives of those who lived in them? It is their art... It is thanks to the hand, the companion of the mind, that civilization has arisen."
—Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

It is not about the end product, but about the process. We are so fortunate to have two experienced art teachers as part of our faculty. Mrs. Culwell and Mrs. Maynard help students create beautiful pieces across campus. The renovation of our pottery studio a few years ago has added so much to the program as well. Students in Infant/Toddler and Primary have several opportunities to explore the process of art in the classroom. Students in Lower Elementary through Middle School use the pottery studio to create with their hands and explore the wonders of clay. Students in High School dive deep into Art History and build on the process from the foundation that was laid in years prior. The work that is created by all of our students is incredibly remarkable. Visit our office to see any of the work hanging on the walls.

Enjoy just a brief snapshot of pictures of the programs across campus. Our High School students recently had the opportunity to visit the Clemson Botanical Gardens to work on their art.
