Heath Brook School...

Information and news from and to the school community

January 2023!

Hello Heath Brook families,

Happy New Year to you all! I hope that you had a terrific time off from school and got to celebrate all the things that make you smile.

You will hear from your child's homeroom teacher that our master schedule has changed a bit. The biggest change is that we are going from a 6-day cycle to a 5-day (Monday through Friday) cycle. Specialist classes will be on the same day each week. For example, if your child is scheduled to have physical education on Tuesday, (s)he should have sneakers available to wear every Tuesday.

Another change, though small, will be where our first grade children play and wait outside before school. Buses and families drop off students from 8:30-8:40 a.m. Students eating breakfast can go directly into cafeteria. Students who are playing outside will go to the upper playground only. Teaching staff will direct them as they arrive, then lead them into their classes at 8:40 a.m.

Winter is a wonderful time to learn - stay warm...

Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone is doing well as we turn the calendar to 2023.

I am hopeful that our covid numbers will remain low as we finish up the school year.

Staying healthy by eating the right foods, drinking plenty of water, getting enough

exercise, and getting a good night's rest will add up to feeling our best selves. Here are

some great videos on maintaining ways to be healthy.

Preschool Curriculum View

We are in the process of selecting a new curriculum resource to replace Big Day for PK in the fall. Our team has spent many hours reviewing different resources and has made a recommendation to purchase Frog Street. If you are interested in viewing this resource, it will be on display in the foyer at the Dewing School through January 10, 2023.
