Lest We Forget

On November 11th, we will honour and remember those who have given their lives in service to others. Our Remembrance Day Slide Show will pay tribute to those men and women around the world who fought and worked for the peace and freedom that we enjoy in Canada today. It focuses on the importance of peace. As a member of the Truedell Community, we invite you to watch our Remembrance Day Slide Show. Thank you to Mrs. Montgomery and her students for their work on this! The link to the slide show is provided below:

Colder Weather is Coming

We hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather outside! It has been such a wonderful break from the cold and wind. Colder temperatures are coming! We will continue to use our outside time whenever possible to allow students a mask break. Please make sure your child has dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Should we have a cold weather alert from KFL& A public health, we will keep students indoors.

The Scholastic Virtual Book Fair is Coming Soon!

We will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair virtually this year from November 18 - December 1. The Book Fair provides a wonderful opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and to help promote a love of reading at home. The Scholastic Book Fair is also a fundraiser for Truedell, as the school receives a portion of the proceeds to purchase books for classroom libraries.

Orders will be shipped to your home. There is a shipping fee of $6.00, or shipping is free with purchases of $35.00 or more. Shipping is anticipated to take 72 hours after orders are received.

There are over 450 items to choose from! Images of each book and a description of its content are provided for each book; both French and English books are available for purchase. You can't make purchases yet, but the link below will allow you to see some of the books available for purchase after November 18th.

Happy Reading!

Internet Safety - Did you know?

-Over half of the students in Mrs. Montgomery's class keep their devices in their rooms at night?

-Of those students, almost all said they sometimes use their device when their parents think they are sleeping.

-Many students admitted to posting something online that they would never say to the person if they were standing in front of them.

-Most employers will check a student's digital footprint online before deciding whether to hire them.

-Posts students send from home can later affect other students' well-being at school and may need to be addressed by the school.

-Students' digital footprints more closely resemble a tattoo, since posts are hard to completely erase from the internet.

Below are some ideas from Mrs. Montgomery's class about how they can be safe online.
