Welcome Back!

Kyle Bellinger, Croman Elementary School Counselor

Dear Students, Parents, & Guardians

I am excited to welcome everyone to Croman Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year!

Returning students: I hope we can continue the GREAT work that you all did in wellness last year and I hope to teach you more about what a School Counselor does!

New students: I am excited to meet all of you and hope we get the chance to spend some time together one-on-one! I truly believe that you will LOVE being at Croman Elementary School.

This year, I want to offer more school counseling services to students and the people who are important students' lives. I rely heavily on teachers, parents, and guardians to let me know what students need. Look for a handout or link to a needs assessment from me soon. This will be your opportunity to communicate with me what you think your students' needs are.

Please take some time to read the information below as an introduction to me and to the role of an elementary School Counselor.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Mr. Kyle Bellinger, M.Ed., LPC

What Exactly Does a School Counselor Do!?

Simply put, school counselors helps ALL STUDENTS acquire the KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, and SKILLS needed to be successful in academic, career and social/emotional development.

At Croman Elementary School, that happens at 3 different levels.

Level 1- ALL STUDENTS receive wellness lessons during the specials rotation. These lessons teach students about many different social-emotional skills, such as identifying and expressing emotions appropriately, coping skills, communication skills, and problem solving skills.

Level 2- SOME students receive small group counseling and/or instruction. Small group counseling and instruction is for students who need extra help learning specific skills. Small group counseling is typically short-term.

Level 3- FEW students receive short-term individual counseling. Individual counseling is meant for students who have higher individual needs or need help with a problem that is not appropriate for a group setting.

**If a student needs more support beyond what I can offer, there are other options available. Please contact me to inquire about these supports**

Snack Program @ Croman Elementary

We are very thankful and excited to offer the snack program through Child Hunger Outreach Partners again this year. CHOP is providing healthy snack options for ALL students. Each classroom will have a container from which students may choose a snack from.

*Students are able to bring a snack from home if they choose*
